Normally I go into a huge rant for the weekly poll, but this week I want to keep things simple and save the ranting for the comments.

  1. If by racist you mean an incredible game that I actually can’t wait to play than yes it seems racist.. If you mean that there is negative and discrimatory meanings of the game then no. Allgames don’t have to take place in the U.S. and Germany right?

  2. There’s no denying that RE5 appears racist/contains racist imagery. However, I don’t think these images were intentional. It’s a game developed by a bunch of Japanese dudes, after all.

  3. Exactly! The key word is “APPEARS”. There were also people who thought Pokemon APPREAD to be satanic.

No one got all pissed off at the portrayal of Spanish bumpkins in RE4. Amirite? I could understand if the game took place in New York or something, but what the fuck!? Do they seriously expect some white zombies mixed in or something? The more black people bitch about stupid shit like this, the more they segregate themselves which sucks for EVERYONE.

    Yeah, I said it.

  4. First I would like to congratulate brownkidd on lasting a whole two hours on posting his “no comment” post and then commenting how he feels the video isn’t extremely not racist in his comment. On that subject, though I haven’t played any Resident Evil before it feels like the video isn’t racist and all the zombies being black seems appropriate. I can see if it was a more urban area where you might be more likely to see white people but in this village I think at most you might see one white missionary and we can assume he was already ate by those darn black racist zombies.

  5. Excuse the grammar; I didn’t proofread.

  6. Doesn’t look racist to me. Maybe to African-Americans but probably not to the rest of the world’s black population. They could’ve at least made them look more zombie like though other than darkening them so you can only see their eye whites. That interviewee seems to be more bugged by a white guy killing black people more than anything else there.

  7. I don’t remember hearing any of this hoop-la when Spanish people were in RE4.

It could be because we really do normally walk around cursing and throwing blades though.

    I don’t think RE5 is racist

  8. i read that article about it on eegra.com and i seriously think that Islamofascist sympathiser, N’Gai Croal, is a freaking idiot. i ahte when people bring up the whole race card. why is it racisit because leon is in africa surround it by zombies. im sorry i didnt the the natives of a african country should be white well maybe i feel white zombies are racisit. would he feel better if we decide to make the have one eye and purple. but that brings up the issue of us being racist and then we will start having purple people eaters picketing everywhere and you know what thats just bad for business. So im sorry they chose to stick to what the natives really look like. What a asshole for saying that shit.

  9. HELLZ TO THE NO! Black zombies can just run faster, jump higher, and play basketball better, which makes for a scarier game. Can you imagine Shaq as a zombie? Well… I can… and I get shivers just thinking about it. THIS GAME IS GOING TO RAAAPPPE!!!

  10. No,no A thousand times no! Ok, seriously no, as a Canadian of West African descent I do not think that Resident Evil 5 is racist. I am honestly baffled as to why with this current installment people are bringing this issue up. I’ve said this in discussions with friends; but why is it that in the last game that was set in Spain, there was a lack of such complaints? Anyone in this series can get infected with the T-virus and now it seems as the plaga or something like it has hit Africa. The last games had the threat ravaging America all the way to the Arctic and Spain, now we just happen to be in Africa. No evil intentions by Capcom. Granted, it was a bit weird to see zombified locals in a setting that is familiar to me on a personal level, since I haven’t seen a zombie-like situation set in a place like this and it’s making me remember my mother’s hometown a bit. I wish we’d all get back to the game and leave the politics behind.
    Sorry for the mega post.
