Follow-up: New MacBook

Earlier today we showed you some supposed leaked photos of the new MacBook Pro. Now, to go along with that, official released photo and specs of the new MacBook models announced at the Apple event today.

Both the new MacBook Pro and MacBook are crafted from a single block of aluminum (the mysterious Brick rumor). New features include the NVIDIA chipset, instant-on LED backlit display, and a large glass Multi-Touch trackpad.

The new “Brick” method of development allows for a thinner, stronger casing. A single block of aluminum is carved into a seamless case.

Apple and NVIDIA have worked together to include the GeForce 9400M graphics processors. This powerful 3D processor “delivers up to five times the 3D graphics performance as previous MacBook and MacBook Air™ designs.”

The instant-on LED display uses 30% less energy while providing crisp, vivid colors. They’ve also brought the black bezel from the aluminum iMacs as well as an “edge-to-edge” glass cover.

The new trackpad is a smooth, glass Multi-Touch pad, similar to the iPhone. This provides support for more Multi-Touch gestures like pinch, rotate, and swipe, and users can even set up virtual “buttons” to allow for things such as right-clicking.

I’m personally excited about this, though maybe I’m just a fanboy. More features in a thinner, lighter notebook? Yes, please. These are available starting today online and in stores tomorrow. And an updated white MacBook is available for under $1k.

Hit the jump for some technical specs and pricing options.
