Nintendo U.S. Press Event Roundup: Wii Speak Channel, Club Nintendo, No DSi Until mid/late 2009

The North American Nintendo press event took place today. Here’s the big news.

  • America will FINALLY be getting Club Nintendo. Nintendo customers will get points for buying products and filling out surveys and the points can be exchanged for exclusive gear in the CLub Nintendo catalog.
  • The Wii Speak channel drops next month. If you buy a Wii Speak microphone, you’ll also get a code to download the channel for free. Kinda’ cool, but nothing too exciting.
  • The Regginator announced that U.S. gamers won’t get the DSi until “well into 2009″ because Nintendo would rather milk the DS Lite for all it’s worth. Makes sense from a business standpoint, sucks for us. Looks like I’ll be importing one.
