Super Creepy Japanese Robot Girl

At this year’s Caetec, a Japanese electronics show, Osaka University unveiled its lifelike robot girl, Repliee R-1. The girl’s face was apparently based on a real 5-year-old girl. This is one of a long line of Actroids, which the University’s robotics department has been developing since 2003. Silicone skin gives the robot its lifelike quality and includes 50 sensors that help the Actroid interact with people and recognize speech.
