About the Lack of Updates…

Monday, November 24th, 2008

My laptop unexpectedly took a huge, stinky dump not long after my desktop bit the dust. There won’t be any more updates until I can afford to fix my ish, or unless someone is willing to help out in a non-half-assed way.

Sorry. Thanks to everyone who thought the site ruled. We’re going to sleep for a while now. I might try write the occasional post when I have downtime at my day job, but down time is a rare thing around here.

Nobody panic! Oldboy remake isn’t really a remake! Sort of…

Friday, November 21st, 2008

Earlier in the month, we told you guys about a Hollywood version of the epic Chan-wook Park film, Oldboy. We we hurt, we were bummed, we were downright cheesed off. As it turns out, things might not bee so bad. Film Shool Rejects reports that Steven Spielberg didn’t actually snag the rights to adapt Chan-wook Pak’s 2006 film, but he has the rights to remake the original manga that Pak’s film was initially based on.

So instead of a lame ripoff of an awesome ripoff of a manga, we’ll just be getting a lame ripoff of a manga.
Here’s Will Smith’s quote from Film School Rejects:

We’re looking at that right now. Not the film though, it’s the original source material. There’s the original comics of ‘Oldboy’ that they made the first film from. And that’s what we’re working from, not an adaptation of the film…

So there you have it. Looks like we don’t have to worry too much. I’m gonna go ‘head and call it right now: CG octopus.

If God had a Facebook, what would it look like?

Friday, November 21st, 2008

“What if God was one of us?

Would he blog like one of us?”

Yes. That was terrible. But God’s facebook account isn’t. It’s actually quite witty. Check out more after the break.

Daily Graffiti: Global Warming Will F**K You Up

Thursday, November 20th, 2008

An Argentinian artist created this piece to warn people about climate change. Contrary to popular science, the Argentinians believe that global warming will turn any hipsters handing out fliers on the streets into puddles of goo.

OH NOES!!! Batman is RETIRING Next Wednesday!

Tuesday, November 18th, 2008

Even if you’re not into comics, you should probably head over to your nearest Golden-Whatever comic shop next Wednesday and pick up a copy of Batman #681 because Bruce Wayne’s hanging up the cape after he discovers a shocking secret from his past! This issue caps off the Batman R.I.P. storyline written by Grant Morrison and it’s sure to fly off the shelves and possibly turn a pretty penny in the years to come - sorta’ like the Death of Superman back in the 90’s, until the comic market nearly collapsed and most of those issues became just about worthless.

Neil Gaiman will be writing 2-issue a followup storyarc starting with Batman #686 entitled Whatever Happened To The Caped Crusader. I’m sure the DC Universe will be flooded with spin-offs and cash-ins revolving around the event.

I’m personally hoping that Alfred and Nightwing duke it out cagematch style over who gets the keys to the Batmobile.

Daily Graffiti: “Brother, Can You Spare A Dime?” by Elbowtoe

This new piece from Elbowtoe is ridiculously detailed. If you couldn’t tell, it’s a piece about the current state of economy.

“Freakishly Rare” Ron English Dunny

Friday, November 14th, 2008

Our homie Spanky Stokes somehow got his toy-loving mitts on some pics of what could possibly be a new 8″ Dunny from Ron English. There hasn’t been an official announcement yet, but it’s a known fact that Ron English will signing an unannounced rare Dunny at Kidrobot Miami for Art Basel. This seems fairly solid and it’s nice to see a Dunny that I actually want to buy for the first time in a few months.

Polaroid of the Future: The Tomy Xiao Camera Has A Built-In Printer!

Friday, November 14th, 2008

The Tomy Xiao isn’t anything particularly special when it comes to specs (5 Megapixels with a 2.5 in. screen), but it’s driving factor is the built-in printer that holds up to 20 sheets of sticky-paper. It also has a paltry 16MB of internal memory, but it supports SD/SDHC memory cards and you can even wirelessly send pictures to the camera from any IrDA devices. The only thing that worries me about this camera is the fact that the ink isn’t replaceable and there’s no mention of how long it lasts on the site. Duh. Zink doesn’t need ink. I forgot that we live in the future.

The Xiao TIP-521 drops in Japan on November 28th. No clue if it’s coming to the U.S., but I’m pretty sure I want one.
