Mystery Level on Super Mario Bros. 3 Box

Infendo pointed out a screenshot on the back of the original box for Super Mario Bros. 3 that doesn’t actually appear anywhere in the game. In fact, those bad guys that you see only show up in one level and it looks nothing like that level on the box. Is it possible that this level is in the Japanese version of the game, or has it remained hidden for all these years?

    Do you have the original Box??? If so look on the side where it shows a world.. Look closely and it says World 10 on it... I've never found it, but when you use the magic whistle there is another island on the side of the screen...

    I actually remember looking at that picture, many moons ago and trying to figure out what level it was from. I played that game to death and then some, so it annoyed me that I could never find that level.
    I'm still waiting for Super Mario Bros 3 part II :D They do it with Final Fantasy games, so why can't it be done to a game that was actually good?!

  • If you buy the director's cut of "The Wizard," they show you how to get to that level in a deleted scene. It's so bad!
  • What the hell? That is kinda weird...

    I think the most logical explanation is that it was a screenshot from the game while it was in development.
