
In Japan it’s common practice to wear surgical masks when your sick so that you don’t pass your symptoms onto someone else. Sure, you may look like a jackass, but at least you’re preventing the spread of disease. In America, however, it’s common practice for people to look like jackasses 99% of the time and get easily paranoid by the media. Especially when the media keeps talking about a tiny little pig cold.
But in Mexico, they’ve taken Japan’s love of surgical masks, America’s love of looking like douchebags, and their own fear of being killed by pig sickness and created some awesomely dumb face masks of their own (top row in above pic), but I’m liking the Japanese designs by illustrator Yoriko Yoshida way more (bottom row).
Maybe I’ll just start wearing these in public to freak people out into thinking the swine flu’s spread to our area…
