District 9 looks good. Really, really, really good.

I wasn’t as pumped for the summer movie season as I was last year until I saw this trailer for District 9. It starts of looking like some sort of documentary about slums in 3rd world countries and the after effects of war, but then there’s hyper-realistic looking CG spaceships and aliens. Can’t wait.

I actually saw a short film version of this a few years ago, done by Neil Blomkamp. Blomkamp and Peter Jackson were supposed to be working on the Halo movie until Fox, Universal, and Microsoft got their panties in a bunch over financing. I guess both of them were so itching to make a movie that they decided to do this instead.
