So it looks like we’ll be getting Guitar Hero 5 this fall. This entry to the series mixes things up by letting you create your own combination of instruments to make up your band. If you’ve always wanted a band with two drummers and 3 bassists, well, here ya’ go. Oh, and any songs that you downloaded for GH: World Tour automatically carry over into GH5.

Bands include Kings of Leon, The Rolling Stones, The White Stripes, Santana, Vampire Weekend, Tom Petty, Johnny Cash, Bob Dylan plus 30 other bands that have never been featured in a rhythm game before. I’m hoping for something heavy like The Acacia Strain, but it’s not likely.

There’s also two new modes: Party Play which lets players jump in and drop out of songs seamlessly and Rock Fest which features five new competative multiplayer modes online on locally. Oh yeah, and the entire set list is playable from the get-go. It’s about goddamn time!

I haven’t played a Guitar Hero game since GH2, but I’m pretty pumped for this.

New songs include:
The Rolling Stones – Sympathy for the Devil
Bob Dylan – All Along The Watchtower
The White Stripes – Blue Orchid
Santana – No One To Depend On (LIVE)
Vampire Weekend – A-Punk
Tom Petty – Runnin’ Down a Dream
Johnny Cash – Ring of Fire
Kings of Leon – Sex on Fire
