Well, All I have to say is that every three companies out there are out of touch with the customer base.

Yes, I made rant videos on Youtube lately about the backwards compatibility (or lack thereof) on the PS3 slim (and some older models, like the 40 gigs, the 80 gig (2-usb), and the 160 gig models), and I'm still pissed at Koller by going hypicritical about the Backwards Compatible feature. First, they patent a EE simulator for the Cell Processer, and then they turned 180 degrees, and kill the feature for good. Good for you, Koller. You don't even give an extended warrenty for the people suffering the YLOD on the PS3.

And for people saying: "If you want to play PS2s, BUY a PS2, bla bla bla", well, I think that these guys need to know that if you do indeed buy their incompatible PS3s and buy a PS2, you are letting Sony be greedy about this, and perhaps Sony can go on to drop more stuff, so that you have to re-buy it. Perhaps Sony would then release a new PS3 system, purposely make older PS3 games incompatible with the PS3 2.0, and Sony would then say: People buy the NEW PS3 to play the NEW PS3 games. If you want to play your older PS3 games, go out there and buy an older PS3 system.

I ain't going to put up with greedy people trying to manipulate customers into renting games for a few years at full before having to give up unless you have to hook up an older console cluddering up your room and having to put up with extra wires. That's just ain't acceptible.

For people like me who want a ps3 to play ps2 games simply due to the fact i would not have to run my ps3 through a scart lead is a simple MUST, until Sony open their eyes and make it compatible I am sticking solely to my Xbox 360! :o)

Though to be honest it doesn't surprise me it isn't since the latest models weren't, but I heard Sony was working on something to make all PS3s be able to play PS2 games using some kind of fancy software. I assume this means that's not coming either.

Before they stop backwards compatibility completely, they need to make a large portion of their PS2 lineup available online. I honestly don't care about my old PS1 games, but I am prepared to buy new copies of Kingdom Hearts and Shadow of Collossus for my collection after I foolishly pawned them, but whats the point if I won't be able to play them if I want to trade my 80GB PS3 (with partial backwards) for the Slim?

sony doesn't care what the consumer thinks. they impress their products and ideals onto the consumer. just look at what they did with blu-ray. sony doesn't HAVE to care what they "core" consumer thinks as long as they can market and appeal to the masses and nintendo proved that it could be done. you can bet your ass that there is a bigger scheme being played. this was just a power play. my theory is that they're trying to make people stop caring so much about the "retro game" phenomenon to get them to focus on the things that are new and cutting edge , and sony basically has a monopoly on all things "new and cutting edge" as far as being the most advanced company and having the most powerful console of this generation.
