Have you ever gone to vacation some place, only to get to the hotel and realize that you forgot to pack a swimsuit, then you have to get a crappy pair that doesn’t fit right from the hotel gift shop? Thanks to Quicksilver’s swimsuit vending machines, that will never happen again — as long as the hotel you’re staying at happens to be The Standard in either L.A., Hollywood, New York, or Miami.
The vending machines will be stuffed with limited edition board shorts based on original styles from the 80’s. Probably the coolest thing about these shorts is that they each come with a list of addresses on the waistband featuring 5 cool spots to visit in the area. All you get on the shorts is an address, so you don’t really know where you’re going unless the names of the places are on an insert that comes with the shorts, or you Google it.
Each list also has a theme:
- Downtown LA – Art Undercover
- Hollywood – Music Musts
- New York – Summer in the City
- Miami – Comida is Cuban
So no matter where you get your shorts, you’ll have a list of places to plan an adventure to. And for the ladies, Quicksilver’s also re-imagined one of their first ever bikini designs and it even has some cute little buttons on the butt.
The official launch event will be a pool party on the rooftop of The Standard Downtown LA on Aug 8th, and from Aug 8-16, the hotel will have “ECHO BEACH RETROSPECTIVE, 1978-1982: Surf Culture Art Exhibition” show which will include art, photography, paintings, film, vintage beachwear, and surfboards curated by Will Pennartz of The Surf Gallery. Oh yeah, and art show admission is free.
