‘MONSTER’ Debuts on SyFy’s Ani-Monday TONIGHT!

Monster VIZ Media

Monster, based on the critically acclaimed manga series by Naoki Urasawa, makes its debut tonight on SyFy’s Ani-Monday block.

Here’s a plot synopsis from the press release that Viz Media sent my way:

“What would you do if a child you saved grew up to be a monster? An ice-cold killer is on the loose, and Dr. Kenzo Tenma is the only one who can stop him! Tenma, a brilliant neurosurgeon with a promising future, risks his career to save the life of a critically wounded young boy named Johan. When the boy, now a coldhearted and charismatic young man, reappears nine years later in the midst of a string of unusual serial murders, Tenma must go on the run from the police who suspect him to be the killer to find Johan and stop the monster he set loose upon the world. Conspiracies, serial murders, and secret government experiments set against the grim backdrop of the formerly communist Eastern Europe are masterfully woven together in this compelling work of suspense.”

I’ve actually never heard of this series, but I’m interested. If you’re looking for some new anime to check out, now would be a good time to set those DVR’s!

  • what time does Ani-Monday start?
  • Just set up a series recording. I'm pretty pumped.

Since everyone's saying it starts slow, should I wait until I have a few episodes to watch it, or should I just watch them as they air?

I've only heard of this series through reading Pluto, another of Urasawa's manga. If the quality's anything like that, I'll definitely be interested in checking this out.
  • Name
This is my favorite anime, bar none. Trust me, it's slow to start, but about episode 6 or so, it's going to grab you and never let go.
  • I read like the first 2 maybe 3 volumes and it seemed pretty interesting though for a while I had no idea what it was about or what it was called Monster because it was a pretty slow moving series.

I will check out the Anime for sure!
