So, this is what ‘Epic Mickey’ looks like.

On of my favorite gaming blogs, 4 Color Rebellion posted scans of the latest issue of Game Informer showing off screens of Epic Mickey. One new little nugget of info is the fact that you’ll be able to chose two paths in the game. Similar to iNfamous, you’ll be able to choose the straight-and-narrow path of “the hero,” or you can take the dark and jagged path of “the scrapper.” Depending on the path you choose, Mickey’s appearence changes.

Speaking of which, I’m not sure how I feel about the new Mickey re-design. He’s too lanky. His limbs are too long. Give me Steamboat Willy mickey dammit!

Here’s the rest of the scans:

So, is this pretty much what you expected? Better? Worse? Let me know in the comments!

  • Personally, I was kinda hoping for an inky/painted style to the graphics to reflect the whole brush thing. Kinda like a dirtier version of the ink splashed in SF IV. Even cell shading would have worked well rather than the straight up, default 3D rendering.
In saying that, it does have a very 'Psychonauts' vibe to the actual art, which can't be a bad thing.

I guess we will have to wait for vids.
  • The in game shots look a little more kid oriented/cartoony than what I was imagining, but it still looks awesome and I'm fucking psyched.
  • Yeah, I was personally hoping for some Salvidor Dali-ish earth tones instead of the blues and purples, but it still looks rad.

One thing that scares me is how the levels sort of have a claustrophobic feel that reminds me of the small levels from the first Kingdom Hearts. Felt like they just dropped some props and set-pieces in a virtual closet. Hopefully that's not the case.

The whole good/evil thing looks freaking awesome as well. And freaking zombie robot Donald!!! Yeah, I'm pumped.
  • I fucking want this. It looks cool
