During my trip to the VGXpo in Philly this weekend, Gamepark Holdings was gracious enough to talk to me about their amazing little handheld, the GP2X Wiz.

The Wiz has been a round for  a while, but for those who don’t know, it’s a touch-screen-enabled handheld console that operates on Linux. This means that it can play Flash games as well as SNES, NES, and just about any other type of emulations. It also plays videos, music, and has a photo viewer, E-Book reader, comics viewer, and a planner that utilizes the system’s voice recording functions!

Basically, if you can put it on an SD card, the chances are good that you’ll be able to play it on the Wiz.

On November, 15th, Gamepark Holdings plans on unveiling the FunGP App Store which will not only contain free downloadable games for your Wiz, but game designers will also be able to upload their creations to share with the community!

The Wiz is only $179.99 and comes with 11 built-in games. While the screen is a little bit on the small side and the graphics can’t compare with the DS or PSP, its unique library, touch screen, Linux OS capabilities, and affordable price make the GP2X Wiz a must-have for any hardcore gamer. This is especially perfect for someone like myself who is big into Japanese-y games, retro games, and bullet hell shooters.
