HOLY SH*T! Blindboxed Lego Minifigs Coming in 2010

Looks like Lego is taking a cue from designer toys (which took their cue from Japanese gashapon figures) and will be releasing a series of blindboxed minifigs next summer. The series has some fresh looking characters like a sexy cheerleader (#2), dastardly gentleman (#8), and luchadore (#15), but HOLY FUCKING SHIT THERE’S A LEGO NINJA AND A LEGO ZOMBIE!!!!!!!!!

Kinda’ bummed at the absence of any sort of pirate in this series, but it’s still fucking awesome.

  • First of all *love* your blog. Simply amazing. The LEGOs? What a great idea. I always thought that minifigs would make great blind boxes. Now if they could only revive and blind box Fabuland!

    a) no pirates because lego ALREADY do a whole range of lego pirate stuff.

    b) the 'dastardly gentleman' is a Mandrake-style magician. he has a wand in his left hand.

    The pirate is not present because Lego recognizes the greatness that is Ninjas. I mean they are just better in general.
  • Here's where I stand on the great Ninjas vs Pirates debate: If we're talking mythologically -- like how they're depicted in books and movies -- then Ninjas win. No questions asked.

    But in real life, ninjas kinda' sucked. They sucked at assassinations. Most of them were caught and killed. All they were really good for was scouting and poisoning wells and rice.

    Pirates, on the other hand, were way more fierce than depicted in the stories. In movies, pirates make people walk the plank. In real life, they'd run a rope around their ship lengthwise, tie their victim to it, and throw them off the front end of the ship. The person would have to hold their breath until the pirates pulled them up through the rear end of the ship, getting scraped by the barnacles on the ship's underside the whole time. The pirates would do this to people until they drowned or died from blood loss.

    Way more badass then just cutting someone's head off from the shadows, if you ask me.

    Be let's be honest, samurai are obviously way cooler than ninjas and pirates combined.

    I MUST have the ninja and zombie. I NEED them.
  • I feel the same way. I want an army of zombies and ninjas so that they can have an epic battle.
