8-Bit Music Power! is the title of an 11-track compilation album being released in the form of a Famicom cartridge early next year. Artists involved with the project range from chiptune musicians such as Saitone and Prof. Sakamoto to full-fledged video game soundtrack composers like Omodaka (Ape Escape) Keishi Yonao (Mad Stalker: Full Metal Force), Yuriko Keino (Xevious, Dig Dug), and Takeaki Kunimoto (Starship Hector, Robo Warrior).

The video up top has me wanting one of these real bad. I love how decades later people are still finding cool ish to do with outdated technology!

If you happen to own a working Japanese Famicom system and want something in your collection that will totally make all your geeky friends jealous, 8-Bit Music Power! comes out January 31, 2016. You can pre-order it on Amazon Japan from manufacturer Columbus Circle.

If by chance you don’t have a Famicom lying around, feel free to enjoy some box art and screenshots below while you hopefully feel less bad about yourself.
