With a huge chunk of the toy scene being filled with shitty figures of licensed characters, it often seems like the days of interesting designer toys inspired by the work of passionate artists are long gone. Kidrobot‘s upcoming collaboration with Horrible Adorables renews my faith in the designer toy scene.

Horrible Adorables is the brainchild of husband-and-wife creative duo Jordan Elise Perme and Christopher Lees. The couple carves stylized animal caricatures and covers them in colorful felt scales. The results are fantastical, a bit eerie, and just plain cute.

Kidrobot has teamed up with the couple to create vinyl figure versions of their charming little creatures which Vinyl Pulse reports could be dropping as early as April 29.

Not much has been fully revealed so far, but you can check out an interview with Horrible Adorables over on Kidrobot’s blog and check out a gallery of the figures below.
