After watching this trailer for Soul Calibur V, it’s pretty evident that they took a strong cue from Street Fighter IV. We’re not sure how special moves that freeze the action the split second before execution will effect SC’s fast-paced 3Dness, but it worked for Street Fighter, so it should work here just fine too, right?

Update: Before I get hated on, yes, I know CriticalEdge moves have been in these games since the series started. I’m just talking about the stylized pause and camera angles. Hard to deny the SFIV influence.
