Avatar Sequels Confirmed

Does anyone really like Avatar that much? Doesn’t matter — James Cameron has confirmedthat since the release of Avatar in 2009, he’s been working on a way of putting out Avatar 2 and Avatar 3. He’ll be filming both at the same time and releasing the sequels one year apart from each other. The first sequel will be releasing in December of 2016, the next in 2017.

That’s not all though. It was also revealed through Fox that Cameron is having help writing three sequels in total, making three avatar sequels in total, and Avatar 4 finishing things up in 2018. Helping Cameron will be Josh Friedman (War of the Worlds), Rick Jaffa & Amanda Silver (Rise of the Planet of the Apes), and Shane Salerno (Savages), to pitch screenplays and “grow” the Avatar world to life.

Cameron says:

Building upon the world we created with Avatar has been a rare and incredibly rewarding experience.  In writing the new films, I’ve come to realize that Avatar’s world, story and characters have become even richer than I anticipated, and it became apparent that two films would not be enough to capture everything I wanted to put on screen. And to help me continue to expand this universe, I’m pleased to bring aboard Amanda, Rick, Shane and Josh — all writers I’ve long admired - to join me in completing the films screenplays.

A trio of Avatar sequels are officially coming soon. Fox will be banking on this one for sure.
