Per, The Hollywood Reporter, Tom Holland has been casted as the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s new Spider-Man. Speculative reports of possible leads for the company’s most lucrative Super hero franchise had been floating for months and confirmed in an article published today.

It is widely expected that Holland will make his initial debut as said character in the upcoming “Captain America: Civil War” film prior to starring in his own in 2017, a joint production between Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios. Holland reportedly screen tested with both Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans. Downey tested with multiple actors, but Holland was the only who also tested with Evans.

Holland has reportedly signed on for “at least” three films, not including “Civil War”. “Captain America: Civil War” is scheduled to be released on May 6, 2016, while Sony and Marvel’s “Spider-Man” film is slated for a 2017 late July release.
