Nintendo Co., Ltd. deeply regrets to announce that President Satoru Iwata passed away on July 11, 2015 due to a bile duct growth. Iwata joined Nintendo in the 1980’s where he worked on games such as Earthbound and Kirby. In 2000 he was appointed director of the company and just two short years later he was named President. A quick scroll through the Iwata tag on Tumblr shows how much Iwata was loved by fans and respected by members of the video game industry.
