This past weekend the Wonder Festival took place in Japan and bajillions of new collectible figures were shown off for droves of otaku to oggle over, but one of the standouts was this Micheal Jackson Figma from Good Smile Company. The figure features the King of Pop in his Thriller attire, and his tippy toes bend!!! I just wonder if this will come with any accessories, like maybe his zombie face or a face with the Thriller eyes. Mwuhahahahah!!
There’s a pretty awesome Instructable posted by Motadacruz showing how to make this rad Domo-kun nightlight for kids using some stuff he had around the house. Looks like a fun little project to take on during a lazy weekend, so I might give this a shot.

Daisuke Satō and Shoji Sato’s Highschool of the Dead manga will officially be given an anime adaptation. While the manga’s been on hiatus for over a year, it will pick up right where it left off later this month.
Highschool of the Dead is about a bunch of kids and a school nurse who try to survive the zombie apocalypse together. There’s lots of gore and scantily clad anime babes making it the anime I’d most want to be trapped in. It hasn’t been published in the states yet, but you can easily find some scanlations on that big giant thing called the internet.
Aksys Games just posted these awesomely adorable custom plushies of Noel Vermillion from BlazBlue and Sol Badguy from Guilty Gear by DeviantArt user sengster. These photographs are proof that when awesome 2D fighting games have sex with plush, epic win is born.
There’s a really awesome piece up on Kotaku written by Leigh Alexander about an indie dating sim/erotic visual novel called Katawa Shoujo. Unlike most ero novels, this game looks like it’s polished to the point where it could possibly rival some of the better ero novels from Japan. Oh, and the girls in this one all suffer from some sort of handicap.
Okay, you’re probably thinking this is cheesy, but I thought the same thing. Just go read the full article. It talks about how this game was spawned from a thread on 4chan.org and it compares the insensitive nature of 4chan to the deep sensitivity found in this game’s story and the author even got statements from a handicapped gamer. It’s a pretty awesome piece of gaming journalism and well worth the read.
Aw shit! The GSC Blog just got updated with this single pic of a Nendoroid of Azusa Nakano (aka Azu-nyan) from the K-ON! anime series.
Alafista.com is reporting that pre-orders will open tomorrow, but I couldn’t find that information anywhere. Google Translator (not the most accurate, I know) says “information will start tomorrow” which I’m assuming means the official Good Smile Co. site will have more pics and details. Either way, I’ll be camping on the major Japanese online hobby shops just to be safe.
Check out the vid below to get the full story behind Azu-nyan’s cat ears and her nickname.
The second season of everyone’s favorite anime full of unnecessary crotch-shots of teenage girls who feel no need to wear pants (but somehow awarded by the Japanese government for being family friendly) will be debuting this summer in Japan.
If you’ve never seen Strike Witches, all crotchiness aside, it’s actually pretty good. Each episode stands well enough on its own so you don’t have to invest as much time into this as you would something like Naruto or Bleach. While there’s definitely an overall story that connects each episode, most of the charm comes in the slice-of-life moments and the girls’ unique personalities.
Strike Witches hasn’t been licensed in America yet, but until it does, you can download fansubs of the entire first season from your favorite anime torrent site.
Here’s a sample of the infamous 7th episode in which revolves entirely around the girls’ panties. There’s no nudity, but it’s still probably not safe for work.

These Lego-ized versions of characters from Mayao Miyazaki’s classic My Neighbor Totoro are part of Iain Heath’s (aka Ochre Jelly) entry to BrikCon 2010 which takes place from September 30th – October 3rd of this year in Seattle, WA.
The theme of this year’s BrikCon is “Big in Japan” and different Lego artists will be showing off their unique pieces that celebrate Japanese culture. Ochre Jelly’s theme is “Miyazakitopia” and will pay homage to the great Japanese animator Mayao Miyazaki. You can check out a concept sketch of Miyazakitopia here.
Can’t wait to see the whole thing when it’s completed!
The new “M” rated sci-fi action manga BIOMEGA drops February 2nd. BIOMEGA is an apocalyptic zombie epic from VIZ Media about man and machine up against a horde of zombies.
Pre-orders are now open for this Kingdom Hearts II Non-Scale figure of Sora in his Christmas Town outfit. This is a limited figure and won’t be available until April 2010, but you can currently pre-order one at Play-Asia for $44.90 before they’re all sold out.
Capcom recently announce that a new Super Street Fighter IVanime directed by Fumitomo Kizaki (Basilisk) at the Gonzo anime studio will be bundled with the Super Street Fighter IV game as a Japanese Xbox 360 exclusive.
Check out the trailer below.
This looks way better than the anime that was bundled with last year’s SFIV and further cements Juri as my new favorite character. Sorry, Akuma, you’re just not sexy enough.
Capcom also announced a live action movie based on Dead Rising. Check the trailer and more details after the jump.
The Figma Blog just announced details for the release of Tsumugi Kotobuki aka Mugi-Chan from the much-loved K-ON! series. It was only last week that Mio-chan was announced and it looks like hardcore K-ON! fans have yet another reason to open up their wallets.
The latest Mobip (Aoshima’s answer to Revoltech and Figma) to be released is none other than Miyafuji Yoshika from the anime series Strike Witches. Pants? Who the hell needs pants when your legs are freakin’ airplanes!?
