There’s absolutely nothing wrong with mixing up a little goth crotch with some retro gaming goodness Photo by TheFunkyHorror [Via Fuck Yeah Famicom!]
The Last Call seems like a decent enough concept: audience members register their cell numbers before the screening, then the protagonist calls random audience members and asks for help. I could see it being fun for repeat viewings just to check out the different outcomes, but the over-dumbing of the protagonist seems a bit corny. Do they really need the audience to make ever little decision like “should I go right or left”? Hopefully this sort of thing paves the way for more interactive theater experiences that play out less like choose your own adventure books and more like fully interactive experiences. Bonus points for the first interactive horror flick that lets you navigate the protagonist through gratuitous sex scenes. [Via Gizmodo]
A clever Albotian who identified himself as “random torontonian” in the comments actually found yesterday’s Sonic & Robotnik Daily Graffiti via Google Maps. Makes me wonder how many other Daily Graffiti pieces are visible on Google Maps… The first person who spots any Daily Graffiti pieces in their area gets something awesome if you take a picture of yourself standing in front of it with an Albotas.com sign. I have an office full of free stuff to give away.
DLi$h just sent it pics of his latest work: a pair of custom Skullcandy SK-Pro headphones with a custom 8″ Lilly Black figure. They look like something a DJ would wear while spinning at a rave in a steampunk post-apocalyptic future. Don’t believe me? Hit the jump for a better look. James Cameron’s secret has been revealed! This clever little concept was done by the Scientific Analysis and Visualization Initiative at Weber State University using two Kodak ZX1 pocket HD cameras bolted to an L-shaped aluminum bar and mounted on a tripod. Then they just lay the images over each other, tweak the colors to red and blue, and an blammo! Avatar! Or just a couple of birds hanging around, being lazy. [Via Engadget]
The Triceracopter looks like something straight out of a cheesy Saturday morning kid’s cartoon, but it’s actually a sculpture by Patricia Renick who made it way back in 1977. Now all we need is for somebody to make a T-Rex Tank, a Pterodactyl Jet, and a Velociraptor Motorcylce, then figure out a way to combine them into one ultimate mech-thingy, and planet Earth can finally die knowing man has made the ultimate creation.

Spotted by Fanboy.com’s Michael Pinto at this year’s ToyFair, this iPhone case by Antonio de Jesus isn’t the most practical case I’ve ever seen, but it’s definitely one of the coolest.
Toronto based artist Bento is currently working on a project he calls Systems of the Forgotten Land, or SOFL for short. He plans on customizing all types of consoles and the first installment is this sweet-but-rugged-looking PlayStation system. The system is fully function and can be purchased with all the appropriate hookups from Bento’s shop.
The artist is also accepting commissions. Just get ahold of him through his site, let him know what system you want and what colors you’d like, and he’ll bang out some one-of-a-kind custom console freshness.
Probably a little biased of me to feature my own artwork, but whatever. It’s a little before 3am and I’m bored and can’t sleep so I decided to play around in illustrator and turn Google’s ‘Android’ robot into a Big Daddy from BioShock. I might make some more of these since it was pretty easy and I have some more cool ideas floating around in my domepiece. Might even customize some Android vinyl figures at some point.
As a blogger/wanna-be journalist/business guy, I tend to carry around a few business cards with me wherever ago. The only problem is, once I run out, I have to get more printed up and that takes time and money. Enter Poken. Poken is a digital business card that also acts as an online social networking tool of sorts. Using Poken you can keep track of all the people you meet (assuming they use Poken as well) and even when you met them. Continue reading “Poken – Digital Designer USB Business Cards” →
Tony Nakanari from Mai Hiro recently dropped me a line about these awesome upcoming Spiki Cell Phone Charms produced by Kuso Vinyl. Production just wrapped up and wholesale orders will be available through DKE Toys. The retail price for these bad boys should be around $3 a pop. Totally love the black one.
If you’re too impatient to wait for your favorite online retailer or nearest hobby shop to get these in stock, but you still want some cheap Mai Hiro merch, they have these pretty badass sticker packs available right now for only $2,70 over on the Kuso Vinyl shop. Now would also probably be a good time to point out that the 8″ Ninja Spiki is my favorite vinyl toy that I’ve ever seen in my entire life.
There’s a pretty awesome Instructable posted by Motadacruz showing how to make this rad Domo-kun nightlight for kids using some stuff he had around the house. Looks like a fun little project to take on during a lazy weekend, so I might give this a shot.

Amazon just knocked $51 off the price of the Mad Catz Street Fighter IV T.E. FightStick for Xbox 360 bringing it down to just $98.99! For some odd reason, they’ve only taken $20 off the price of the PS3 version, leaving it at $129.99. :/ I already have a T.E. stick for the PS3, but I’ve been wanting one for the 360 as well so I can play online against my anti Sony friends. Might have to pick this up before the deal goes away. |
