Custom Mario Mech Vinyl by KodyKoala

Toy customizer Donald Kennedy aka KodyKoala made this Mario Mech out of a Merio vinyl figure, a Mario Keychain, and some parts taken from a toy mech from that Avatar movie. The dirty brushed metallic finish is awesome and the bolts are a great touch. Hopefully he does some more Nintendo mechs. Donky Kong, anyone?

About the piece, KodyKoala says:

This was something that my brother and I have been talking about for a while. We thought it would be cool to have Nintendo characters drive a mech of the themselves. This is the first of a series. I love the way this came out, and it is pretty self explanatory how it is made, except for the cockpit, which I got from and Avatar Mech Amp Suit. I am also trying a cool new background as well as better lighting, so the pictures come out crisper.

Michael Jackson Figma with Articulated Tippy-Toe Action!

This past weekend the Wonder Festival took place in Japan and bajillions of new collectible figures were shown off for droves of otaku to oggle over, but one of the standouts was this Micheal Jackson Figma from Good Smile Company. The figure features the King of Pop in his Thriller attire, and his tippy toes bend!!! I just wonder if this will come with any accessories, like maybe his zombie face or a face with the Thriller eyes. Mwuhahahahah!!

Actually, this thing’s just under 12″, so maybe it’d be more appropriate as a nerdy elbow rest. E-Capcom is currently taking pre-orders for this sexy piece of gaming decor for only ¥2,625 ($29.46) and it’ll be shipped on March 31. The bad news is, this is only available in Japan. Fffffuuuuuuuuuuu..

Here’s hoping they release these outside of Japan. My sofa is naked without it.

Tony Nakanari from Mai Hiro recently dropped me a line about these awesome upcoming Spiki Cell Phone Charms produced by Kuso Vinyl. Production just wrapped up and wholesale orders will be available through DKE Toys. The retail price for these bad boys should be around $3 a pop. Totally love the black one.

This teaser for M. Night Shyamalan’s live action version of the popular Nickelodeon cartoon was supposed to air until the Super Bowl this weekend, but it’s here now and it’s pretty badass.

Fun Fact: a short scene for this was filmed a few minutes away from my house at one of the few landmarks in our town, The Pagoda. I tried to sneak up and get some pics, but roads were blocked from about 2 miles away and there was no way in hell my unfit blogging ass was gonna’ walk 2 miles for a few pictures.

Sick Video Game Inspired Skateboard Designs for the I’M BOARD Skateboard Art Show

Logan Zawacki (the same dude who wrote The Excavation of Mushroom Island) sent in pics of these 4 skateboard decks that he designed for the upcoming I’M BOARD skateboard art exhibit in Jacksonville, FL being held this weekend. The games represented are Mega Man, Super Mario Bros., Street Fighter II, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

It looks like he took models from the Tony Hawk games and rendered them with the appropriate attire to fit their themes. Awesome work, indeed.

brownkidd’s mailbag: This is what 60 über rare toys look like on my floor.

So, a DHL van pulled up in front of Albotas Headquarters yesterday and dropped off a bag full of packages. There were 5 packages in total and each package contained a complete set of a certain designer toy series, but unlike the version available in stores, these packages contain an über rare edition of the figures in a special colorway only available through special promotions like this one.

Hit the jump to see what 60 Gunmetal Edition Little Trickers look like scattered across my dining room floor.

Above you’ll see 12 piles and each pile contains 5 of the same character. Only 450 sets of these Gunmetal Edition Little Trickers designed by Touma were made and 60 of them are at my freaking house!!! And they’re only being given away through special promotions, so don’t expect to see these at your favorite toy shop or online retailer.

I wanted to get some better pics, but I didn’t wanna’ take them out of their bags, so here’s the lineup of characters.

Play Imaginative was awesome enough to ask me to throw this contest and they mailed these things all the way from friggin’ Singapore! So thanks Play Imaginative and thanks Touma for designing some truly kickass figures.

A few of my friends on the west coast had themselves a shindig for the Lost Season 6 premiere. They made up some Dharma Initiative labels and slapped ‘em on all the essential party goods: cola, tortilla chips, cheese salsa, guacamole, water, and even Tic Tacs!

And it was all topped off by this Dharma Initiative brownie cake thingamajig.

WTF, guys? Where’s the beer? Next time you make a trip to PA, we’ll have to party it up proper: Lost marathon while doing kegstands!

Daily Graffiti: A New Spin On Space Invaders

Remember that sneak peek I posted the other day of the new Mousey Micci flavor? Turns out it’s part of Erick Scarecrow’s new 5 Deadly Miccis Series which was teased on the site here way back in November.

This new gory Micci, dubbed the Bloody Waffle Micci, comes just in time for that certain special holiday. Limited to only 25 pieces, this handpainted 6″ resin figure features a nice glossy red topping and some scrumptious looking butter on top. Consistent with ESC Toy fashion, these pieces will each be signed, numbered, and packaged in the Scarecrow’s box.

Bloody Micci drops February 12 at 11pm PST and each piece will be sold for $90 exclusively through the ESC-Toy shop.
