Pics & Video From the New Leaf Launch at Nintendo World NY

Oh man! So me and my special lady took the 5am bus from Reading, PA to New York City this past Saturday for the Animal Crossing New Leaf launch event and holy geeze was is fun! There were games to play sweet pins to collect, and StreetPasses aplenty. They even had a tiny replica diorama of an Animal Crossing town!

Check out the swankily edited video below for a better look at what you missed if you couldn’t make it out to NY over the weekend.

Rumor: New Retro Game Challenge Title Coming?
It looks like G.rev, creators of shmup masterpieces, Border Down and Under Defeat, recently tweeted the above message. After running it through Google Translate, it looks like they may be saying that they’re working on a Game Center CX / Retro Game Challenge title.
The previous two GCCX games have been on the DS and G.rev’s most recent game was on 3DS, so I think it’s safe to assume that the new GCCX game will be on 3DS.
Here’s the bad news. While it was easy to import and play the Japan-only Game Center CX 2, the 3DS is region locked and it’s very doubtful it will end up being localized.

Star Trek into Darkness: Conspiracy Theory Edition
Haters gonna hate. Star Trek into Darkness was awesome. But something was quite unsettling…
The movie opens on a planet called Nibiru. Any conspiracy theorist worth his weight knows Nibiru is another name for Nemesis. Which is another name for Planet X, the rogue planet that some say is out of view from us here on Earth but will crash into the planet eventually.
Why would they name the planet Nibiru? Well, there was a movie called Star Trek: Nemesis (2002). It all comes together. Clearly, J.J. Abrams is Illuminati. You can’t fool me, lizard man.

This Digital RPG Puts You In The Role of Players Playing a Tabletop RPG

Knights of Pen &Paper +1 Edition might actually be the most meta game ever created. You play as a regular group of people playing a D&D-esque pen and paper RPG - you even get to play as the Game Master and design the actual encounters!

This new +1 Edition is an update of the mobile version with brand new features such as a tavern, more dungeon locations, and a plethora of new unhealthy snacks for the in-game players. The game drops for PC and Mac on June 18th. Pre-orders are open at buy.knightsofpenandpaper.com, but if you can’t wait until then you should totally download the mobile version, and then get the +1 Edition.

Custom ‘Okami’ Arcade Stick

This pimped-out fightstick by Christopher Jones is freaking gorgeous.

From the artist:

Some simple photo manipulation led to this beauty, bought a pink joystick from a friend, needed some new art. I immediately thought of the cherry blossoms in my favorite game Okami. Put a few pictures together, blended the colors, the spirit of Queen Himiko floating in the background and there you have it.

I want twelve!

This ‘Avengers’ Playroom Concept Is Glorious

Although this concept room by [Q]ATRO Design meant as a room for kids, I’m sure a good deal of adults wouldn’t mind having a room like this in their home. All it needs it a decent couch, a mini fridge, some consoles, and possibly even Scarlet Johansson in her Black Widow outfit and I’d never, ever leave.

Maurice Moss Wants To Be The 12th Doctor. We Are Perfectly Okay With This.

Maurice Moss from The IT Crowd addressed a recent post on his Facebook page to the BBC.

Dear BBC,

I am writing to inform you that I am available to take over immediately as the next Doctor. I’ll even bring my own sonic screwdriver (mine actually works).

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely,
Maurice Moss.

I’d personally love to have Richard Ayoade play The Doctor if only to give us brown-skinned folk someone cool to cosplay as at conventions.

Do the right thing, BBC. Do. The right. Thing.

Here’s Evangeline Lilly in Her Ginger Elf Warrior Costume for the New ‘Hobbit’ Movie
The last I’d heard anything about Evangeline Lilly a.k.a. Kate from Lost, it was that she was retiring from acting or something. Apparently, she’s a goddamned liar.
Here’s a pic of her sporting a generic elf costume for her role as Tauriel in The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug - a character who isn’t in any of J.R.R. Tolkien’s novels. Peter Jackson and crew made her up to “bring some more female energy to the otherwise male-dominated Hobbit narrative” which is Hollywood speak for “The Hunger Games made archery chicks cool and we want chicks to see this movie. Also, we didn’t want to piss off the feminists.”

The Time Lords of Wizard World Philadelphia

I’ve been going to Wizard World Philly every year for the past seven years or so and this year was by far the most that I’ve ever seen so much Doctor Who cosplay. Clearly a testament how much the show’s fanbase has grown over the years.

I’m sure their hearts were collectively shattered as Matt Smith announced over the weekend that he’d be leaving the series. I know mine sure was.
