Pokémon TV App, Now Out and Free
The amount of Pokémon news that comes out every week honestly blows my mind.
Today saw the release of the official Pokémon TV app for iTunes and Google Play. Smartphone users can now download the video app to watch different episodes of the Pokémon animated television show. The app rotates 50 different episodes — get this — every single week.
The app is separated by region, which is really awesome, and every episode you can view is free to watch. The app will also be hosting full-length movies, starting with Pokémon the Movie: Kyurem vs. The Sword of Justice from February 15-18. The app will also be debuting the animated short “Meloetta’s Moonlight Serenade” on February 15.

Chinese New Year 2013 Android Mini Collectible
You know those dancing lions you see in Asian parades? Here’s one in Android form. There are some really nice details on this figure. Included with the toy is a head of lettuce (non-edible) and one of seven scrolls. (The completionists are going to have a field day getting all seven.) This will be a very limited release for us Western folk, so be logged in here with credit card in hand at 11AM Easatern this Thursday (1/24).

Android S3 Reveal Part 2

Check out four more designs from the third series of Andrew Bell’s Android Mini Collectibles. I love see-through plastic, so the Nexus figure is making me even more excited for my box of S3s to hit my doorstep. The Barista Bot is a self-portrait of Andrew from when he worked in his sister’s café and was a robot. (I frickin’ knew it!) KaNO designed the Intergalactic figure, which of course pays tribute to one famous dancing robot from the ’90s. Finally, MAD designed the CRY-ON, which has some sexy silver accents.

Android S3 Reveal Part 1

The boat containing the shipment of Android Mini Collectibles Series 3 has hit the shores of California. But those boxes full of plastic robots still have to make their way to Dyzlastic’s distribution center, then stores, then your house.

In the meantime, snack on these photos of some new Android designs. We’ll post more as they come.

Android S3 Confirmed for End of Q3

Andrew Bell has just announced that the third series of Android Mini Collectibles will be shipping by the end of September. Originally slated for Q2, the delay is mostly due to a redesigned arm that lets you pose robo-appendage any which way. Very cool.

And if you happen to be in Brooklyn, drop by The Cotton Candy Machine to check out some of Andrew’s other work during the Other Mother Brothers art show.

Ever wonder how the Android Mini Collectibles project got its start? Check out our interview featuring Andrew and yours truly.

Unreleased Androids on eBay
Pre-orders for Android Mini Series 3 have been open for a while but we haven’t heard many official details. Could these unreleased Androids be part of Series 3? Probably not. They come in a windowed box like the Big Box series rather than a blindbox. That said, they’re still pretty cool, especially the doctor. The eBay auctions are ending in less than a half hour as of this posting, so check them out (here) - these might not surface again for a while.

A Look at Two New Androids

That blue Android up there is called Schemer. It was given away at SXSW to several lucky bastards. Two more randomly chosen bastards who subscribe to the Dead Zebra newsletter will win a Schemer tonight. I can just see it twisting its mustache in my general direction, as if to say, “You’ll never have me.”

The one on the bottom is KaNo’s contribution to the third series of the Android Mini Collectibles. It’s based off the giant robot from the Beastie Boys’ Intergalactic video. I hear this one will be of a 1/16 rarity.

A Little Bit on the Android Big Box Side: Check out these Android “Big Box” toys. They aren’t produced or designed by Dyzplastic, but some of them are really cool. They all come in a windowed box so you know which one you’re getting. Personally, I’ll be picking up the Ruby, Yeti, and Pinkey ones. You can find them soon at Urban Outfitters, Barnes & Noble, and elsewhere.

A Little Bit on the Chinese New Year Android Side: Last year, Dead Zebra released the God of Wealth figure to celebrate the Chinese New Year. For the Year of the Dragon, we’re getting not one, not two, but three, yes three, little plastic gods. The three figure set consists of Fortune, Blessing, and Longevity. They’re be available this Wednesday at 11AM and 11PM for $29.
