Instead of using their own Ganmetall Celsius for this custom, Rotobox decided to use a Robotar figure instead. They even included a cute little Pandatron to pilot Panda Z!
Oh, and if you’re wondering why Rotobox customized a Robotar instead of their own Celsius figure, it’s because this piece is for the upcoming Robotars Earth Day 2010 Exhibit.
To give you guys a better idea of just how insane this thing is, here’s what a Robotar figure looks like before it gets in the hands of Rotobox.
Enjoy the gallery of this super sexy custom below.

Good Smile Co. just dropped word on the Figma Blog that they’ll be releasing a Figma version of Rider from the manga/anime series Fate/Stay Night. This is easily one of the coolest Figmas yet as far as how technical it is. First off, this is the first Figma to be released with a double-jointed neck. This one done so that collectors can display Rider in her crouched attack pose, which you’ll see after the jump. Another issue Good Smile had to overcome was the hair. Characters with a lot of hair have always been somewhat difficult to pose, but Rider has jointed hair made out of a soft, flexible material that allows for some really cool poses.
Pre-orders for Rider go up on February 16th and she will be released this May. Otacute.com usually puts pre-orders like this up around 10pm EST, so I’ll definitely be camping on the site for this one.

Daisuke Satō and Shoji Sato’s Highschool of the Dead manga will officially be given an anime adaptation. While the manga’s been on hiatus for over a year, it will pick up right where it left off later this month.
Highschool of the Dead is about a bunch of kids and a school nurse who try to survive the zombie apocalypse together. There’s lots of gore and scantily clad anime babes making it the anime I’d most want to be trapped in. It hasn’t been published in the states yet, but you can easily find some scanlations on that big giant thing called the internet.
The second season of everyone’s favorite anime full of unnecessary crotch-shots of teenage girls who feel no need to wear pants (but somehow awarded by the Japanese government for being family friendly) will be debuting this summer in Japan.
If you’ve never seen Strike Witches, all crotchiness aside, it’s actually pretty good. Each episode stands well enough on its own so you don’t have to invest as much time into this as you would something like Naruto or Bleach. While there’s definitely an overall story that connects each episode, most of the charm comes in the slice-of-life moments and the girls’ unique personalities.
Strike Witches hasn’t been licensed in America yet, but until it does, you can download fansubs of the entire first season from your favorite anime torrent site.
Here’s a sample of the infamous 7th episode in which revolves entirely around the girls’ panties. There’s no nudity, but it’s still probably not safe for work.
Capcom recently announce that a new Super Street Fighter IVanime directed by Fumitomo Kizaki (Basilisk) at the Gonzo anime studio will be bundled with the Super Street Fighter IV game as a Japanese Xbox 360 exclusive.
Check out the trailer below.
This looks way better than the anime that was bundled with last year’s SFIV and further cements Juri as my new favorite character. Sorry, Akuma, you’re just not sexy enough.
Capcom also announced a live action movie based on Dead Rising. Check the trailer and more details after the jump.
Graffiti based on retro video games is a piece of cake to find (just check out the Daily Graffiti Archives). Graffiti based on anime? Not so much. Whenever I manage to come across the rare piece of otaku street art, I get all giddy like a 5th-grader who just caught his first shiny Pokemon (FYI: Shinies are really frikkin’ rare!), which is exactly how I reacted to this piece featuring the sexy Yoko from Gurren Lagann, only there was less tinkling involved.

Kaaanedaaa!!!
Can you believe that the classic anime Akira is over 20 years old!?
Produced by Sideshow Toy, this Die-Cast replica of Kaneda’s bike from Katsuhiro Otomo’s groundbreaking manga and anime feature is just over 6 inches tall and nearly 20 freaking inches long!
When it comes to awesomenss of this magnitude, shelf space will be the least of your worries when you hear about the insane $420 price tag. You can currently pre-order it from BigBadToyStore.com for $375 and you can expect it to ship some time in January of 2010. You might wanna’ start saving your monies, like, six months ago…
Someone should invent light-trailing technology just for this thing.
The latest DLC for the Xbox 360 version of Grand Theft Auto IV includes some new stuff to watch on the in-game TV, including the anime parody Princess Robot Bubblegum. It features all the cliches you’d expect from an anime parody. There’s the scantily-clad heroine, pervy old guy, obligatory cute creature, and LOTS of tentacles.
There you have it. You officially never really have to watch a single anime after this because this pretty much sums up the entire genre.
This Yuzuko Hayakawa PVC figure from Good Smile Company is the first PVC figure that’s blown my mind in a while. I’ve always been a fan of figures that display a good amount of motion and this piece does it in spades. I’m especially loving the swirly chain.
Since I’m not all that familiar with the character, here’s the official press statement:
From the manga currently serialized in YOUNG GANGAN magazine, authored by Dai Satou and drawn by Maseru Gotsubo – ‘Yuzuko Peppermint’, comes a PVC figure of the stylish, silent high school girl, ‘Yuzuko Hayakawa’!
Yuzuko is the wielder of the special ability ‘Peppermint’, that acts as a powerful stimulant whenever she becomes angered. Her normal long black straight hair, as well as the peppermint green hair are both included, allowing you to pose her both before and after using her ‘Peppermint’ ability. The huge iron ball she wields whilst fighting, ‘Shiranuhi’ is also included.
The figure will be sold together with an original drama CD story, written by Dai Satou, placed on a drama CD with a wonderful cast, as well as a booklet including illustrations by Maseru Gotsubo!
You can currently pre-order Yuzuko over at Play-Asia, but hurry because supplies are limited.
*UPDATE* 3Yen reports that Kirsten Dunst was rocking these cosplay duds in Akihabara for a video shoot directed by McG aka the dude who directed Terminator Salvation. The video is for an exhibition which will take place at the Tate Modern in London later this year.
Kirsten Dunst — an actress that I rarely ever find attractive — looks way sexy in this cosplay getup. Maybe it’s just my severe weakness to thigh-high stockings.
Someone out there on the intertubes thought it would be a great idea to turn the Transformers into cute little moe robots (aka moebots) and act out the closing credits to the Lucky Star anime. The results are… something.
Moe (萌え?, pronounced [mo.e], literally “budding”, as with a plant) is a Japanese slang word originally referring to a strong interest in particular types of character in video games or anime and manga. For example, 眼鏡っ娘萌え, meganekko-moe, “glasses-girl moe”, describes a person who is attracted to fictional characters with eyeglasses. “Moe!” is also used within anime fandom as an interjection referring to a character the speaker considers to be a moekko. It is even used in some anime, such as Ouran High School Host Club, Ai Kora, Lucky Star, Kaichou-wa Maid-sama!, The Melancholy Of Haruhi Suzumiya, Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni, K-On!, Magician’s Academy and Bakemonogatari.[citation needed] There are various interpretations of what moe is today. Joseph L. Dela Pena argues that moe is a pure, protective feeling towards a character[1],
Both the spellings moe and moé are used in English.[2] Some writers add an accent mark in an attempt to indicate that the word should be pronounced as two morae, “mo” and “e”, but this usage does not conform to any standard of romantization. Compare bokeh (other non-standard romanization).
Since I come across lots of moe-ish things on the internet, I might as well share some of them with you in a new weekly feature.
To kick things off, I figured I’d start with one of the most famous female characters in all of geekdom, Princess Peach!
If anybody knows the source for the above image, please tell me!!! I accidentally deleted it from my computer, but luckily I had it set as my desktop background, so I managed to take a screengrab.
Monster, based on the critically acclaimed manga series by Naoki Urasawa, makes its debut tonight on SyFy’s Ani-Monday block.
Here’s a plot synopsis from the press release that Viz Media sent my way:
“What would you do if a child you saved grew up to be a monster? An ice-cold killer is on the loose, and Dr. Kenzo Tenma is the only one who can stop him! Tenma, a brilliant neurosurgeon with a promising future, risks his career to save the life of a critically wounded young boy named Johan. When the boy, now a coldhearted and charismatic young man, reappears nine years later in the midst of a string of unusual serial murders, Tenma must go on the run from the police who suspect him to be the killer to find Johan and stop the monster he set loose upon the world. Conspiracies, serial murders, and secret government experiments set against the grim backdrop of the formerly communist Eastern Europe are masterfully woven together in this compelling work of suspense.”
I’ve actually never heard of this series, but I’m interested. If you’re looking for some new anime to check out, now would be a good time to set those DVR’s!
Embedded below is a sneak peek of Soul Eater with english dubs. They were showing this off when I was at the NY Anime Festival, but I didn’t get a chance to catch it. Luckily, there’s this thing called YouTube.
The first volume of the Soul Eater anime gets released on DVD in the U.S. in 2010, but the first volume of the manga is currently available. Keep your eye out for more Soul Eater news on the official website.
I’m loving the art and character design, and the soul gobbling looks terrific. Something about it reminds me of Gorillaz.
