Custom 12″ Skitty Geisha by Tony Nakanari

Tony Nakanari from Mai Hiro turned Tokyo Plastic’s 12″ Geisha figure into a badass Hello Kitty themed piece for a private collector. I’d totally buy a poster, sticker, or shirt with the spiky-haired Hello Kitty flipping the bird.

Custom Strike Freedom Celsius from Rotobox Vinyl Anatomica

The insane customizers over at Rotobox Vinyl Anatomica have turned their Gunmetal Celsius figure into the  ZGMF-X20A Strike Freedom unit from the Gundam Seed anime series. This piece is for their 2nd series of Gunpla themed customs.

In the email i received about this, Rotobox’s Spencer Ong says that Gundam Seed is his favorite series so far, then adds adds “but the Gundam Unicorn is looking awesome!”

And it is! Here’s a trailer:

Here’s more pics of the custom:

Gallery of Custom Spawn Dunnys by fplus

Josh “f+” Pearce is a toy artist who’s done quite a few Spawn Dunnys as commission pieces for collectors. He sent me a link to his blog post featuring all the Spawn Dunnys he’s done – starting with his first one ever(above) and ending with he latest one (at the end of the post) – and asked if I’d share them, so I am.

Warning: Truly sickening work lies ahead. Prepare to be jealous of this dude’s talent.

Hand-made ‘Bayonetta’ Tumbler Dolls

Flickr user n-moto uploaded some pics of his custom tumbler dolls featuring Bayonetta and Cereza from the hyper-sexualized action game from Platinum games, Bayonetta. The tumblr dolls appear in the game, but n-moto has brought them to life using Super Sculpey and acrylic paint. You can check out more pics and info on n-moto’s Flickr.

If you haven’t played Bayonetta, think Devil May Cry, only instead of a white-haired dude in a red trench coat, you’re playing as a hot curvy chick in a skin-tight outfit that is actually her hair. Oh, and to spice up the action, her hair is also the source of her magic, so the more powerful the spell, the more of her hair it uses aka the more naked she gets.

Custom Ice Grabbit by Rsin

Rsin must’ve just read my beef with toys piece because he just sent in pics of a SICK new custom piece that he did for someone. I was actually at the first local show this dude had a few years ago and his skills have leveled up by leaps and bounds.

Here’s what he has to say about the piece:

This is the second Ice Grabbit I was asked to do by a private collector who wanted a set.  So we decided on 1 fire and 1 Ice.  I completed the Fire grabbit a few weeks back and had to figure a way to make the ice one just as good.  So I spent the past 2 weeks trying to find me something I could use on it so it wasn’t just painted.  Finally I decided to create a patch of Ice shards coming out its back.  Love the way the two pieces look together.  I have a lot of fun working with these Grabbits.  Anyway enjoy, comments appreciated, and if interested in work please email me Rsinart@msn.com.  Thanks

Here’s a gallery showing off more of the Ice Grabbit along with the Fire Grabbit. Excellent photos of an excellent custom.

Arcas – Custom Knuckle Bear Figure by Lunabee

This 18″ custom Knuckle Bear by Lunabee is freaking gorgeous. It was done for Iksentrik’s Knuckle Sandwich custom show in the UK. Somebody needs to put this girl’s work into mass production so I can have it on my shelf.

These Custom Batman Figures Are Not Teeth

These customized little version on Batman and his rogues gallery of enemies was made by JONITO for the Cool Kids Never Die art show. The artist used the ultra-awesome and ultra-affordable Not Teeth figures to make these. Pick up a set of Not Teeth for yourself for only $4 over at Oh Baby So Tasty.

Custom Mario Mech Vinyl by KodyKoala

Toy customizer Donald Kennedy aka KodyKoala made this Mario Mech out of a Merio vinyl figure, a Mario Keychain, and some parts taken from a toy mech from that Avatar movie. The dirty brushed metallic finish is awesome and the bolts are a great touch. Hopefully he does some more Nintendo mechs. Donky Kong, anyone?

About the piece, KodyKoala says:

This was something that my brother and I have been talking about for a while. We thought it would be cool to have Nintendo characters drive a mech of the themselves. This is the first of a series. I love the way this came out, and it is pretty self explanatory how it is made, except for the cockpit, which I got from and Avatar Mech Amp Suit. I am also trying a cool new background as well as better lighting, so the pictures come out crisper.

Red Cross Custom Stitched Mini Munny by MeSmithy

MeSmithy dropped a line to let us know about her Red Cross custom Mini Munny which is currently up for auction on Ebay. The proceeds will go towards the Red Cross to help the victims of the recent earthquake in Haiti.

About the piece, she says:

I started working on this mini munny the day before the earthquake.  After hearing about the devastation in Port Au Prince I decided to make this piece a fund raiser for the American Red Cross. 100% of the proceeds will be donated to the Red Cross. While I am sure many of you have already helped the cause, please consider giving a little more and getting a one of a kind stitched leather mini munny as a thank you. Lets send the people of Haiti as much help as we can!

This is a great chance to own an awesome piece of art and help some people out at the same time. You can find the auction here.

Custom 12″ Bambaboss by Rsin

IMG_3445

Here’s a custom Bambaboss figure by the one and only Rsin for the Multiversal Group Show in Miami. This is actually the first custom Bambaboss I’ve ever seen and it’s freaking amazing. Loving all the added details like the horns and tube.

For those who don’t know, the Bambaboss is a figure designed by one of my favorite artists of all time, Ashley Wood. He typically does comic book art, but he also releases some high end designer figures. I’m not 100% certain, but I think the Bambaboss is his first foray into the DIY scene. You can see what an unpainted Bambaboss looks like here.

Another fresh piece from Rsin. This dude actually lives in my area and it’s been a real pleasure to watch hi work evolve as he masters his craft. Seriously, toy scene, you need to watch the fuck out for this guy.

Check out more pics of Rsin’s Bambaboss in the gallery below.

I’ve seen my fair share of Street Fighter themed custom toys, but I’ve never seen one that’s really blown my mind (except for this one). I’d always hoped that I would be the first one to make a truly epic Street Fighter Munny, but since I’m a lazy bastard, Emmanuel Pérez del Río beat me to the punch.

Way better than I could’ve done anyway. Awesome job, Emmanuel!

Baxter the Lonely Dead Bear – 10″ DIY Teddy Troop Custom by Aaron Boy

baxter3 with logo new copy

I get a buttload of emails each week from artists asking me to feature their latest custom toys on the site. Sometimes the submissions are kind of stinky. Sometimes they’re just “meh.”

And Sometimes they sort of blow my mind, like this one.

baxter4

Aaron Boy is an up and coming artist from Phoenix, Arizona and he recently completed a 10″ Teddy Troop figure that he’s named Baxter the Lonely Dead Bear. This figure’s already been featured on the official Teddy Troops website and it’s easy to see why. His work sort of gives off a Greg “Craola” Simkins/Brent Nolasco vibe, but it manages to stay fresh without seeming copycat-ish.

baxter2

I highly recommend checking out Aaron Boy’s blog for more of his work. I have a feeling that if he keeps at it, he’ll be a shining star in the designer toy/urban art world in no time.

baxter6

Seriously, look out for this kid.
