You can currently pre-order her from our friends over at Otacute and she’ll ship at the end of July. The only bummer is the price: $57.50 which is a little much when compared to the $25-$35 Figmas that have been released this year.

And here’s the opening credits of To Aru Kagaku no Railgun. Not quite sure what to make of it. Anyone know if it’s any good?

The figure features the King of Pop in his Thriller attire, and his tippy toes bend!!! I just wonder if this will come with any accessories, like maybe his zombie face or a face with the Thriller eyes. Mwuhahahahah!!

The Figma Blog just announced details for the release of Tsumugi Kotobuki aka Mugi-Chan from the much-loved K-ON! series. It was only last week that Mio-chan was announced and it looks like hardcore K-ON! fans have yet another reason to open up their wallets.

While the details on the keyboard are quite gorgeous, fans will notice that the KORG logo is missing. Maybe Good Smile Co. couldn’t get the rights to reproduce the logo, or maybe this is just a prototype image and the final product will be different. Either way, expect this to sell out within minutes of the pre-orders going up.

The Figma blog was just updated with new pics of Mio Akiyama from the manga/anime series K-ON! The case for her bass looks to be some sort of soft faux leather or something which is an awesome touch.

This figure doesn’t come out until February 2010, but pre-orders will be available starting this Friday, January 22nd.

This news comes right after I finished marathoning all 13 original episodes of K-ON! and it’s safe to say that I’m not only hooked, but I’m now a full-fledged Mio fanboy. Her moe-ness knows no bounds.

Aside from Kidrobot’s Dunny Fatale Series, this is the first must-buy toy for me in 2010.

This week I decided to compare Figmas to their competitor, Revoltech.

Since I already have the Kanou Unchou Figma, I decided to get another Ikki Tousen girl, so I picked up Ryomou Shimei. I really wish Max Factory would make a version of Ryomou in her school outfit. She’s so much more adorable and innocent-looking. Maid outfit Ryomou is kinda’ intimidating.

Since I’d never had a Revoltech before, it was difficult choosing which one to get first. I really wanted Yokko from Gurren Lagann or Haruhi Suzamiya in her bunny costume, but I figured I’d test the waters by getting the cheapest Revoltech I could find, just in case I wound up hating them. So I wound up with Pocco, designed by master illustrator, Shunya Yamashita.

Here’s a closeup comparison of the hands. I like that the Figmas come with the little storage thingie. They also have hands that are more elegantly posed.

I feel like I came off a little harsh in my review of the Revoltech. I really liked it! I just think that Figmas offer more bang for their buck, even if they are a bit smaller. That doesn’t mean that I’m not planning out my next few Revoltech purchases. My shelves are gonna’ be LOADED!

I hope you enjoyed the last otakufied episode of blindboxed for a while. The show will go back to designer toys next week when I review… wait, I’m not telling you! You’ll just have to watch and see! I’ll also be giving away details on how you can win a custom Munny by Jim Freck!

In this episode I review Max Factory’s Kanu Unchou Figma. This is the first Figma I’ve ever purchased and I’m fairly pleased with it.

The only bummer is that a few seconds after filming this episode, I accidentally broke the display base…

Fortunately, Kanu doesn’t need a display base to look bad-asss. Oh, and she also came with a cool cardboard backdrop. I originally thought that it was part of the box until the day after I shot this episode.

Here’s a better look at all the extra stuff it came with. Not bad for only $35, but you could probably find it cheaper elsewhere on the interwebs.
