A ginormous package from Patch Together Inc. just landed here at Albotas H.Q. and it’s full of some truly awesome stuff. Never seen some of these figures before, so it’s great to get my hands and eyeballs on some exciting new stuff. Some of the figures require assembly and gluing.. Not sure if I’ll put them together or give them away to some lucky readers.
If you’ve never heard of Patch Together, they’re a great website and resource for talented artist to get their work recognized and make some money as well. Just submit your own toy design and if it gets enough votes, they’ll make it into an actual product as soon as the pre-order quota is met.
Hrm… maybe I should submit the Albotas logo as a figure…
Just wanted to say thanks to the fine dudes and dudettes from Patch together and I plan on reviewing it all very soon. Not sure if I’ll do one big picture review, a bunch of mini picture reviews, or a few short video reviews a-la blindboxed.
I’ll definitely be giving some of these away through various contests since I feel bad keeping it all to myself. Stay tuned!
Toy company NECA has produced a replica of the Big Daddy plushies that the Little Sisters carry around in BioShock 2. The 7″ plush figures, first spotted over on Tenacious Toys, are currently being shipped to retailers and will run for $24.99.
So, a DHL van pulled up in front of Albotas Headquarters yesterday and dropped off a bag full of packages. There were 5 packages in total and each package contained a complete set of a certain designer toy series, but unlike the version available in stores, these packages contain an über rare edition of the figures in a special colorway only available through special promotions like this one.

Man, every franchise and their mother seems to be jumping on the “urban vinyl” bandwagon lately. I hate to say it, but the whole scene is on its deathbed in my eyes.
These kinda’ cool and way-cheaper-than-”real”-urban-vinyl Mega Man figures (only $9.99!) from Jazzwares, called JUVIs (Jazzwares Urban Vinyl) are somewhat of a mystery. There’s little to no info on them on the official Jazzwares site and it seems like the only retailer carrying them is Toys “R” Us, and only a select few stores. So far Mega Man and Proto Man are available, but Elecman and Ice Man may be on their way shortly.
Here’s a custom Bambaboss figure by the one and only Rsin for the Multiversal Group Show in Miami. This is actually the first custom Bambaboss I’ve ever seen and it’s freaking amazing. Loving all the added details like the horns and tube.
For those who don’t know, the Bambaboss is a figure designed by one of my favorite artists of all time, Ashley Wood. He typically does comic book art, but he also releases some high end designer figures. I’m not 100% certain, but I think the Bambaboss is his first foray into the DIY scene. Another fresh piece from Rsin. This dude actually lives in my area and it’s been a real pleasure to watch hi work evolve as he masters his craft. Seriously, toy scene, you need to watch the fuck out for this guy.

Looks like Lego is taking a cue from designer toys (which took their cue from Japanese gashapon figures) and will be releasing a series of blindboxed minifigs next summer. The series has some fresh looking characters like a sexy cheerleader (#2), dastardly gentleman (#8), and luchadore (#15), but HOLY FUCKING SHIT THERE’S A LEGO NINJA AND A LEGO ZOMBIE!!!!!!!!!
Kinda’ bummed at the absence of any sort of pirate in this series, but it’s still fucking awesome.
Design duo Noferin have created an all new set of 12 wooden blindboxed figures called Jibibuts. The figures range from 2.5 – 3.5 inches and there’s two randomly packed secret Gold and Silver editions!
Here’s the best part: buying a full case guarantees that you’ll get the entire set! Too bad there’s no word yet on how much a full case or single blindbox will cost. A single blindbox will retail for $9.

Only assholes blow $100 on themselves on Black Friday unless they’re loaded enough still get the rest of their X-mas shopping done, have absolutely no one to buy for, or maybe they’re Jewish or something and don’t celebrate Christmas.
That being said, if anyone is looking to get a little something for that special blogger in their life, this would be the perfect gift.

Erick Scarecrow’s Soopa Maria Sato character — clearly an homage to Super Mario Bros. 3 — is my absolute favorite among his figures by far and it would be a huge understatement to say that this new grayscale colorway makes me just a bit giddy.
This whopping 18″ figure is limited to a mere 10 pieces worldwide and will be available exclusively from the Japanese toy retailer Tomenosuke on Thursday, November 26th at 12am midnight JST.
Revoltech, the line of meticulously articulated, heavily detailed Japanese figures recently held their Revoltech Expo and unveiled a butt-load of new figures as well as some surprising new licenses featuring popular characters from American franchises like Batman, Alien, Jurassic Park, and Nightmare Before Christmas.
While I thought the Batman Revoltech looked kinda’ lame and I could care less about an Alien Revoltech or a Revoltech of the T-Rex from Jurassic Park (although the T-Rex is pretty badass lookin’), the Jack Skellington figure stole my heart and gave it a boner. I also love how they’ve replaced the standard plain Revoltech bases with more fitting stands that better suit each character.

I’m gonna’ go out on a limb and say this is my favorite Micci figure thus far. I love the little angry chocolate eyebrows. I’d totally be down for a 3″ Mousey Micci blindboxed set. Anyone else?
This Yuzuko Hayakawa PVC figure from Good Smile Company is the first PVC figure that’s blown my mind in a while. I’ve always been a fan of figures that display a good amount of motion and this piece does it in spades. I’m especially loving the swirly chain.
Since I’m not all that familiar with the character, here’s the official press statement:
From the manga currently serialized in YOUNG GANGAN magazine, authored by Dai Satou and drawn by Maseru Gotsubo – ‘Yuzuko Peppermint’, comes a PVC figure of the stylish, silent high school girl, ‘Yuzuko Hayakawa’!
Yuzuko is the wielder of the special ability ‘Peppermint’, that acts as a powerful stimulant whenever she becomes angered. Her normal long black straight hair, as well as the peppermint green hair are both included, allowing you to pose her both before and after using her ‘Peppermint’ ability. The huge iron ball she wields whilst fighting, ‘Shiranuhi’ is also included.
The figure will be sold together with an original drama CD story, written by Dai Satou, placed on a drama CD with a wonderful cast, as well as a booklet including illustrations by Maseru Gotsubo!

I spotted this figure over on Neko Magic and thought it was just too adorable not to share. Her name is Kirisame Marisa and she’s from a little something called The Touhou Project.
I’m assuming this is the original artwork that the PVC version was inspired by, but it could just be box art or something. Either way, it’s way cute.
The Touhou Project is essentially a series of PC bullet hell games made by a guy known as ZUN. Think of them as being along the same line as games like 1942, Raiden, or R-Type, only instead of war planes and futuristic spaceships, Touhou games feature cute girls with magical powers. And way more bullets.
As far as I know, this figure is only available over at Amiami and I have no clue whther they ship to the states or not.
Hopefully these things start popping up at Play-Asia and Amazon because I freaking want one.

A while back, Bandai released a plush version of Ghost Mario, but I’m digging this plastic (maybe it’s vinyl?) incarnation way more. There’s also a cool Flying Mario version too. These things are limited in availability, so get ‘em while you can!
