Seriously, what is it with Valentines Day? If you’re not in a relationship, it’s a miserable, tawdry reminder of your single status, being shoved down your throat for months on end, with the culminating anguish of an empty doormat on 14th February, an empty pigeon hole at work, a feeling of emptiness and inadequacy – a bitter taste I remember all to well.
If you’re with a partner, I don’t see why you have to be orchestrated by greedy commercial organisations into expressing your love for the one you’re with. Every day should be Valentine’s Day. Why wait till February 14th to
- tell your partner that you love them
- cuddle and kiss
- make a card conveying your emotion
- curl up together on the sofa
- eat dinner with your fingers
- hold hands
- gaze at the moon and stars
- share a bag of chips on a windy seafront
- spoon
- share laughter
- turn off the tv and talk
- eat strawberries and icecream off each others bodies
- just be?
It’s dreadful, and I loathe it.
Fuck Valentines.
Well said, sort of, but I got my lovely lady a box of chocolate covered strawberries and plan on getting a face full of vagoo tonight.

What’s up, you hooligans!? I hope you’re all having an awesome holiday. I just wanted to take the time to thank all the good PR folks, advertisers, sponsors, tip submittors, commenters, and, most importantly, you loyal readers for your continued support.
I’m takin’ a break until the new year. Get ready for Albotas to kick off 2010 with full force. Expect more contests, more reviews, and more interviews. A Little Bit On The Awesome Show and blindboxed will also be making a return.
I look forward to your continued support in helping this site grow even bigger on 2k10. Expect awesomeness.
Because there’s no way to honor the birth of baby Jesus like rigging up Christmas lights to play a giant game of Guitar Hero on the side of your house.
What do you get when you mix a Christmas Light show with Guitar Hero? Christmas Light Hero! A real game you play with a Wii wireless guitar controller. Optional TV screen is available if you get in trouble, but if you use the screen, you don’t get your name in the high score list.

Oh yeah, and there’s freaking fuzzy snowflakes IN THE PACKAGING!!! Awesome, right? I know! Snag one of these up for a loved one for $75 over at vannenwatches.com and get treated to FREE STANDARD SHIPPING all through the month of December. Vannen even promises to throw in some extra awesomeness, so don’t sleep on this! Oh, and tell ‘em Albotas.com sent ya’.
8 Bit Weapon was actually the first chiptune artist I’d ever heard of about 4 or 5 years ago. I actually remember a friend of mine saying that the novelty of chiptunes would wear of and I’d get bored with it. He couldn’t have been more wrong. The chiptune scene is growing more and more each year and finally being featured regularly in the mainstream gaming media.
It’s only natural that like other genres, chiptunes would take on classic holiday music. You know a genre’s made it when it finally has a decent catalog of Christmas tunes.
8 Bit Weapon and ComputeHer (which I’ve actually never heard of before now) have teamed up to produce It’s a Chiptune Holiday, an 8 track album which comes in a limited edition handmade 5.25″ floppy disk CD case. You can pick one up at either the 8 Bit Weapon or ComputeHer online store for only $9.95 with free worldwide shipping.
Go check out Tokidoki’s holiday collection over at Tokidoki.it and get a free limited edition Bastardino tree charm (only 200 available) for any order over $75!
For those who don’t know, Tokidoki is the brainchild of Italian illustrator Simone Legno. The Tokidoki brand spans across the realms of fashion, toys, stationary, and art.
It also gets bitches wet and could possibly get you laid.

Just wanted to say a BIG thanks to all the loyal Albotians out there who keep coming back to my little corner of the interwebs for their fill of awesomeness. I started this site in 2007 and it’s crashed a good amount of times since then, but I came back strong this April with the relaunch and I’m pleased to announce that, so far, November is shaping up to be the best month for traffic on Albotas.com!!!
Traffic report from 10/26/09 to 11/25/09 z0mg Albotas.com record!!!
To put things in perspective, here’s the traffic report from 09/26/09 to 10/25/09. Crazy, right?
So, seriously, thanks to everyone for visiting the site regularly, leaving comments, following me and Albotas on Twitter, and re-tweeting all my stupid links. And thanks to all the new readers as well. Hopefully you’ll keep coming back!
I hope everyone has an awesome Thanksgiving. I made a freaking AWESOME ham that I’ll be taking to my Mom’s place along with my girlfriend and her 3 kids. I’ll be back to posting tomorrow.
Feel free to drop some Thanksgiving related comments below!
Each year Kidrobot releases a 3″ holiday-themed Dunny and this year they’ve turned to U.K. design duo TADO for what can only be described as one of the most endearingly sarcastic holiday Dunnys so far.
I’m willing to go out on a limb and say that this is not only the best Dunny release of 2009, but it’s easily one of the greatest of all time.
I’m just wondering what’s under the beard. And since this is Kidrobot we’re talking about, it’s safe to say you can probably expect a chase variant or two.
The back of this piece provides a pleasant warning that Christmas will beat the living shit out of you with a baseball bat and steal your money.
Krunk-A-Claus is currently available at Kidrobot.com and select retailers.
When it comes to dressing up like comic book characters for Halloween, this chick doesn’t mess around. She easily could’ve been Wonder Woman or Bat Girl, but she went oldschool and got made up into a halftone dot-printed comic character.
Was anyone else captivated by how huge that earring is?
I spotted this over on moe.imouto.org and thought it’d be perfect for Monday Moe. I’m not sure if she’s supposed be a character from something, or just a creepy picture, but it’s freaking awesome. Creepy, but awesome.
Vannen, the makers of highly-collectible, limited edition designer watches, has a new treat in store just in time for Halloween. They’ve released only 150 watches designed by Dirty Donny, and 50 of them come in an ultra-limited Toxic Colorway. The colors are shipped randomly, so you have no clue what color you’ll be getting.
That toxic yellow is pretty awesome, but I wouldn’t mind the regular colorway either. I wouldn’t mind some cany corn either…
Order your Holloween Vannen watch here while they last.
To celebrate National Lazy Day (best nonsensical holiday ever), The Anime Network will stream their entire library of anime for free until 11:59 PM CDT tonight. A monthly subscribtion to their catalog is usually around $7, but if you subscribe today, it’s half off your first month.
In honor of National Lazy Day, this will be my last post for the day. Free anime awaits!
