Screenwriter explains why Shadow of the Colossus won’t suck

The gaming population is about 99.9% positive that the live-action film adaptation of the classic PlayStation game Shadow of the Colossus will suck big hairy scrotum. Justin Marks, the guy penning the screenplay, would like to convince us otherwise. Justin Marks also shat out the screenplay for a little gem called Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li, so we’re gonna’ have a hard time believing him.

“With a lot of games there are so many elements in the universe you spend your time tearing down and tearing down,” he said. “What’s nice about this game is that it’s so sparse so you can start building right away.”

So your saying we don’t have to worry because there’s a lot of room for you to just make shit up? Sounds more like a reason this game’s movie adaptation will just be another quick paycheck for a talentless writer. Be afraid. Be very afraid.

‘Shadow of the Colossus’ Movie In The Works

Well, the good news is that one of the greatest, most inspiring video games within the last decade will be turned into a live action film. The bad news is that the script is being penned by Justin Marks, the same guy who wrote a little gem called “Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li.”

Considering the fact that “Shadow of the Colossus” was a very solitary game with no dialogue, some minor characters from the game will be given bigger rolls and they’re trying to give this movie a “Lord of the Rings” feel. I honestly feel that this is a bad move. If you’re going to turn such an artistic game into a movie, do it artistically. After seeing the trailer for “Where the Wild Things Are“  they should just pust Spike Jonze in charge of this.
