It looks like he took models from the Tony Hawk games and rendered them with the appropriate attire to fit their themes. Awesome work, indeed.

The January 2010 issue of Nintendo Power goes on sale December, 22nd, but there’s a sneak peek on the magazine’s official site. The sexiest little tidbit of news is the announcement of Mega Man 10 for WiiWare. It was only back in 2008 that Capcom released Mega Man 9 (12 years after Mega Man 8!), so it’s kind of a shocker that yet another retro-ish Mega Man is on the way so soon.

Here’s some new stuff that Mega Man introduces to the series:

• You can choose between Mega Man and his brother Proto Man right from the get-go.
• There’s a 3rd playable character that Capcom is keeping secret for now. I’m hoping it’s Viewtiful Joe, but that’s highly doubtful.
• An all new storyline has Mega Man & Co. searching for pieces of a vaccine-making gizmo to cure a the robot-only disease Robotenza. Could be an STD from all the robot humping that goes on in the year 2XXX, but Capcom hasn’t made an official statement on the matter. Yet.

I’m wondering when this new Mega Man will be released. December 17th would make a good date since it’s Mega Man’s 22nd birthday, but WiiWare games only drop on Mondays. You’ll just have to check out the full article when the January 2010 article of Nintendo Power hits the newsstands on December, 22nd and hope for a definite answer.

Megaman 8-bit Deathmatch will play as if Megaman suddenly turned 3D. Everything will play as if it was being played back in 1987. Levels will use purely 8-bit textures and sprites. Megaman will jump high and take damage recoil. Weapons will behave exactly as they did back then, only from a 3d perspective. The plan is to eventually have all the levels and weapons from Megaman 1-6 (and maybe 9). Obviously some weapons will have minor changes because there are a lot of clones throughout the series.

It’s 2009 and people are STILL making Doom mods!?As long as they look this awesome, they can just keep on making ‘em.

Here’s some awesome Mega Man inspired graffiti featuring Ice Man, one of the original bosses from the first game. This looks like it could’ve been made out of ceramic tiles wood blocks or something.

A bit of 8 bit pixel art from Mega Man, in particular his classic foe, Iceman. Found in Central Sq, Cambridge in the alley next to the Central Kitchen, the piece proudly survived a classic New England winter with minimal damage. The wall around Iceman continues to change with new graffiti or murals regularly, but the painters respect the space around the 8 bit art and maintain its integrity.

Back in early 2007, The College of New Jersey was home to a collection of chalk murals entitled “Thank You for Playing.” The collection featured chalky sprites from classic games like Mega Man, ExciteBike, Bubble Bobble, and Final Fantasy.

I’ve featured countless custom designer toys and custom console mods on Albotas throughout the years, but these custom NES systems by Thretris (spotted on Tiny Cartridge) are the first I’ve seen that have sort of a designer toy aesthetic. The polish and level of professional quality on these are amazing.

The line between toy customizing and console modding is just a bit more blurry.

This is the Killtendo Entertainment System (KES) and is a companion to another Thretris custom, the Billtendo Killboy

Dubbed Sky, all I can think of when I look at this one is Mega Man.

This one’s called 80’s Reborn, which I can kind of see, but this one gives off the biggest designer toy vibe.

And since we’re on the topic of custom NES consoles, check out this red velvet NES by Phil McCoy and sexy-ass Battletoads NES by Phil’s friend Greg which were also featured on Tiny Cartridge:

Possibly one of the best NES mods ever.

In February of 2010, Medicom Toy will release their Rockman Kubrick figures. Both Proto Man and Mega Man each come with their own clear Be@rbrick figure as well. These limited figures come in at just under 2 inches and will run about $32 each.

Looks like ANO beat me to the punch and even had my same idea for a crazy shmup level and the Mega Man 2 start screen. Oh well…

Who says Japan gets all the good stuff? Tatsunoko vs. Capcom: Cross Generation of Heroes came out for arcades and the Wii in Japan way back in December of 2008, but we won’t be getting it over here in the U.S. until January 2010 (re-named Tatsunoko VS Capcom: Ultimate All-Stars), but Capcom’s made up for the long wait by adding some new characters into the mix.

First up is Joe the Condor from the Gatchaman series representing the Tatsunoko side. He’s got some stylish attacks as well as a powerful gun/grappling hook sidearm thing.

Secondly we have Zero from the Mega Man X/Mega Man Zero series for the Capcom side. Zero comes equipped with his trusty Mega Buster, Plasma Sword and some very speedy moves. And stay away from his Ultra combo, that Plasma Sword is no joke. Seriously, shit will fuck you up.
