Earlier this week, Gaminformer revealed that their cover story would feature the highly-anticipated Epic Mickey. Eurogamer scored the inside scoop on the upcoming Wii title, and so far it seems just as awesome as I’d hoped.

Here’s a quick rundown of the plot…

Pictured above is Epic Mickey’s main villain, Oswald the Rabbit. Oswald was actually the first ever Disney character, but he’s jealous that Mickey got all the popularity, so he decides to take his revenge.

From Eurogamer:

Epic Mickey is a tale about the ‘forgotten’ Disney stars: the rides, the characters, the lesser-known cartoons. When nobody any longer cares, they are cast into a dark void; a forgotten world of broken machines and bitter personalities – a bit like Sid’s bedroom in Toy Story, but without the friendly furnishings.

Oswald gets The Phantom Blot to try and destroy Mickey and ruin the Magic Kingdom with an evil ink that makes colors run and fade. While the Blot may not have been so spooky back in the day, the image of him on the GameInformer cover looks just plain evil.

Mickey will also be getting a new “retro” makeover – that’s why his face hasn’t been shown yet.

As far as gameplay goes, using the Wiimote, it’s up to Mickey to save the day buy doing Okami-ish things you’d expect, like painting bridges, and not-so Okami-like things, like splashing paint thinner on a wall so that you can see what’s on the other side.

I was pumped to get the new GameInformer, but I’m starting to think that the internet will just leak all the details before it even hits the stands.

‘Epic Mickey’ Revealed on Cover of GameInformer

A while ago, there were rumors on the internets that Warren Spector (creator of Deux Ex) and Junction Studios had been working on a dark, stempunk Mickey Mouse platformer exclusively for the Wii. The concept art painted a dreary, almost Salvidor Dali-like depiction of the Disney Kingdom and it was the most excited I got for a Disney game since the announcement of the first Kingdom Hearts.

The November issue of GameInformer features an Epic Mickey cover story with some gorgeous wrap-around cover art and GameInformer promises more details in the next 3 weeks on their Epic Mickey landing page. There’s also an interview with Warren Spector that reveals absolutely nothing about the game, but you can go here if you feel like checking it out anyway.
