This potential father-of-the-year candidate painted a 12-foot long Super Mario Bros. 3 mural on his son’s bedroom wall. Each pixel was painted over a huge grid that the father drew out across the wall. The whole project took about 2 years to complete, but the father admits he slacked for about a year and a half. You can see lots of work-in-progress shots and a full view of the mural here. Thanks for the tip, Dean!
“Oh, it’s terrible! The King has been transformed! Please find the magic wand so we can change him back.” Stencil graffiti inspired by Super Mario Bros. 3 by GameBoyOne.
I’ve noticed that the retro gaming aesthetic is becoming increasingly popular in the media and advertising lately. Above is a Nike ad featuring the French footballer Patrice Evra. [Via Sci-Fi Wasabi] And speaking of cool 8-bit videos, p0ntanamobay posted this cool video for DJ I-Dee’s “Swollen Dome” on the boards.
Remember 3D Dot Game Heroes, well this is like that, only without the sexily-rendered hi-res 3D pixels and complete Zelda ripoffery.
Don’t like ‘em? No biggie, in Classic Dungeon: Magic Team Assistance, you can design your own sprites (just like in 3D Dot Game Heroes).
As for the battle system, it seems pretty original and relatively deep. Since I don’t really understand it, I’ll just copy/paste directly from Kotowari:

Photographer, graphic designer, and design director Adam Richardson recently released pics from his news project entitled “Invaded” where he adds iconic imagery from the game Space Invaders onto actual war photos. I was a bit bummed to find out that instead of actually taking the pictures himself, Richardson just snags them from stock photo sites like Getty Images and AP Images. Although it takes away some of the magic, the final results are still pretty brilliant.

Here’s some cool stencil graffiti featuring a sprite of Alex Kidd from the oldschool Sega days. Fun fact: did you know Alex Kidd was sort of Sega’s unofficial mascot before Sonic came in and stole the spotlight? [Via Jordiet.]
Another day, another ANO post. Rather than just drag it out and post only one example of his awesomeness each day, I figured it’d just be best to make a gigantor ANO gallery post. This guy’s work is absolute perfection. Be sure to check out ANO’s blog and flickr for more craziness. And if you haven’t checked his animated short, I highly recommend you do so now. Check out the Daily Graffiti Archives for more awesome.
This is ANO and he’s officially your new favorite graffiti artists. I have no idea how I never heard of this guy before. Seriously, I have a geeky blog about gadgets, games, and anime and a segment called Daily Graffiti. How was this guy not on my radar? ANO’s pixel work is simply amazing, especially when combined with clever photography like the picture above, entitled Pixel Bomb. There’s a LOT more awesome ANO stuff to share, so I’ll probably be featuring it on the site throughout this week and next. Seriously, the pic above barely even scratches the surface of what this dude’s capable of.
If there are two things that the majority of us nerds appreciate, it’s easy-to-make microwaveable/toaster oven meals, and anything with an 8-bit aesthetic. Kablam! Two worlds just collided into a crazy explosion of awesomeness that God and Jesus have named The 8-Bit Oven Mitt. FACT: The 8-Bit Oven mitt was actually prophesied in the Bible, but the Catholic Church had the context removed because they hate video games. I think it has something to do with them also hating birth control. Get your own 8-Bit Oven Mitt over at ThinkGeek.com for $25. |
