This Pokémon fanart from Tomioka Nirou does a great job at playing with the world of a video game rather than just drawing famous characters. In this piece, a bored trainer can be seen riding on top of a Metagross and using it’s powers to blast other motorists off the road. There’s a lot of awesome subtleties going on like the trainer on the bottom right with a few Pokéballs in their belt, the kid in the van with a Pikachu on his head, and Magneton being used as a power source for the bored trainer. This sort of thing makes my imagination wander far more than run-of-the-mill character-based fanart.
I highly recommend checking out the hi-res version here.
From January 30th to February 14th if you take your DS or DSi and a copy of Pokemon Platinum/Diamond/Pearl to your nearest GameStop you can download a special Pikachu-Colored Pichu. If you transfer this special Pichu to your Heart Gold or Soul silver game, you’ll be able to catch a Spiky-Eared Pichu.
Other than looking different than your run-of-the-mill-Pichu, I’m not too sure what other advantages Pikachu-Colored Pichu and Spiky-Eared Pichu have.
Someone drew Pokémon from the old Red/Blue and Gold/Silver games as if they were demons from old Japanese scrolls. Come to think of it, a Pokémon game set in feudal Japan would be pretty sweet.
Some wise-ass kid didn’t know an answer to one of the questions on a calculus quiz, so instead he drew a picture of Charizard along with the explanation “I couldn’t figure out this problem, but here’s an amateur drawing of a Charizard, I hope that helps…”
A logical thing to do under the given circumstances.
When the when the kid received his graded paper, he saw that his professor responded with his own amateur drawing of a Blastoise with the words “Blastoise uses water cannon. It’s Super Effective! Charizard fainted.”

I already posted a few cosplay pics from this year’s New York Anime Festival, but I figured I’d put up a a great big gallery of all the cosplay we came across at the con as well as the ones that I already posted just, in case some of you missed it. You can also check out some crazy cosplay that we didn’t get a chance to take pictures of (like a crazy near-life-size BumbleBee Transformer costume!) on the latest episode of A Little Bit On the Awesome Show. If you haven’t already watched it, shame on you!!!
There’s one picture in the gallery where a dude is totally dressed as a chick. Can you spot which one?
Just in time for the holidays, Viz Media is dropping a buttload of newness in November. Most of the goods come out toward the end of the month, but a lot of otaku will be pumped to hear Naruto Shippuden The Movie comes out on the second week of the month. Those that didn’t already torrent the Japanese version, that is.
Here’s the full list of Viz Media DVD releases for November. Go get that Xmas shopping done early, folks!
I don’t remember Misty being so well-endowed or scantily-clad, but I’m not complaining. Is anyone else wishing they could be Ash’s neck in this picture?
The trailer for the newest Pokémon game is here, and it looks just like the last DS entry to the series. Some noticeable differences are some sweet 3D cut-scenes before battles against Legendary Pokémon and the ability to pick a Pokémon from your party to walk around and interact with you. The game will also include a Pokémon Pedometer which you can transfer one of your Pokémon onto and level them up as you take steps. It’s sort of like the old Pocket Pikachu (which is going for $225 on Amazon for some reason).
I think I’m the only one pumped about this, but whatever. Silver and Gold were my favorite Pokémon games back in the day and I’m pumped to play the DS versions. Too bad they won’t come out in the U.S. until Spring 2010.
I guess Nintendo wasn’t satisfied with just having one Pokémon-branded X-ray machine in the known universe, so here’s their new one. The other one was way cooler simply because it was portable and had a sleeker design. This one just looks like like a regular x-ray machine with some Pokémon decals slapped on. If I was a little kid suffering from broke bones, I’d be pissed if I wound up on this bootleg-ass machine and demand the portable one. And a sexy nurse with fishnets. Just sayin’.
