Illustrated Celebrity Tweets

It’s about time somebody started doing this. More at the Museum of Modern Tweets.

Thanks, Andrés. Now I’m gonna’ be  thinking of chaincondom all day long.

Follow Me On Google Buzz

Google buzz launched nearly two weeks ago and there’s been mixed reactions all across the board. I personally think buzz has a lot of potential, but it’s up to all the internet users out there to make it work. Right now it’s kind of a wasteland, sort of like Twitter was for the first year or so.

Why should you give a shit about Buzz?
Because I said so. And, more importantly, because it’s a new way to share information with people from around the web and keep conversations going. What makes Buzz different from something like Facebook or Twitter is the way it integrates your other social hotspots like Twitter or Flickr. If you want, you can have it set up that all your tweets from Twitter show up as buzz messages. I especially like being able to upload pics to twitter and have the batch of uploads automatically show up to my Buzz followers.

Oh, and if you use Google Reader to access all your favorite RSS feeds and decide to click the little “share” button to share a cool story, it shows up to all your buzz followers! HOLY FUCK! Isn’t sharing fun?

And the most convenient part of all: it’s built in to Gmail – the one tab almost everybody keeps open in their browser!

So why the balls should you follow me?

  1. I’m subscribed to a huge ass-load of  RSS feeds and every day I find cool stories that just don’t fit into Albotas for some reason or another. Follow me, check out cool stories that I share on Buzz, and your boredom will be cured! But you’ll still be dead inside.
  2. I’ll be holding special contests just for my Buzz followers! What kinds of contests? Sorry, but I’ll only tell my Buzz brethren.
  3. Get a heads-up on new Albotas.com original content. Sometimes I go to awesome places and see some truly awesome things. I then post those things on my Flickr BEFORE I post them on Albotas. Since all my Flickr photos go to Buzz, you’ll get the jump on all the cool stuff I’ll be sharing. And there’s some pretty cool stuff coming up, trust me.
  4. It’s better than being cold and alone! Think about it, you could just read stories on Albotas.com which is kind of a one-way stream of information, or we can be Buzz friends and share awesome content with EACH OTHER! Sure, this can be done through Twitter or Facebook, but Buzz lets our followers know whenever a new comment has been posted in a topic. This is a great way to meet new people with similar interests on the web.
  5. Because I’m awesome.

If Web Services Were Oldschool Paperback Novels

webnovels

Awesome cover therapy given to popular web services by Stéphane Massa-Bidal. I wonder what redtube would look like…

Girls, this is what happens when your dad joins Facebook.

facebookcar

There’s just too many layers of awesomeness going on here. The girl complaining about foreign cars, even through she drives a Volvo. Her dad bitching her out about complaining. Her boyfriend referencing the nutstains that he popped off in the backseat. But nothing tops the racist dad’s comment. It’s the cherry on top of a multi-tiered lulcake.

Thanks to Matt for sending this in!

Twitter Takes Over Comics

forgetless1_001

Really?

The above image is the first page of Forgetless, the new series from Image Comics which drops December 9th. The story has something to do with a wannabe-model in New York who turns into an assassin, but she’s also a hipster on the side. Or something.

Here’s another page showing off a bunch of fashionable hipster kids in a dumpy apartment, sans-tweets:

And here’s the cover which appeals to the graphic design nerd in me:

$3.50!? I remember back when comix where $1.50 – $2.00!!!

I like the art (moreso the coloring), but the only reason I’m really posting about it is because it looks like Tweetdeck barfed and/or ejaculated all over the first page.

Is this gonna’ be a new “thing” in comics? Are Facebook wall comments next?

You can now upload pics from your Nintendo DSi to your Facebook account.

facebooknintendo

Have DSi? I do, and to be quite honest,  it’s been collecting it’s fair share of dust lately. Thankfully, Nintendo just launched a new firmware update for the DSi that will allow you to upload photos taken with the DSi’s camera to Facebook.

Pretty cool I guess, but I’d rather have more DSi Ware games and less calculators & calendars.

Tweet of the century

relationship_status

You know how some sites show your relationship status? They need one that says “in a relationship, but my gf’s totally down for a 3some”

What you’re looking at is the best tweet of all time by yours truly. It was so awesome that it was posted on badtofu.com. Since it was probably the most clever combination of words that I’ve ever thought up in under 140 characters, I’m glad my comedic genius hasn’t gone unnoticed.

Speaking of Twitter, why not follow Albotas, or better yet, follow me!

Found on Twitter: Social Networking Pillows

socialnetworkingpillows

While crawling through the murky depths of the Twittersphere, it’s only natural to stumble across the occasional wonderful thing of awesomeness. It happens. Today we have some lovely throw pillows from Craftsquatch to spruce up your already-nerdy living quarters. You can choose from a buttload of your favorite social networking logos, or if you’re a graphic design nerd, you can get logos for your favorite Adobe programs.

This post was made possible thanks to a tweet from Nick Camillo from ALittleBitWeird.

Be sure to follow Albotas and brownkidd for a chance to be featured on the site!

New Commenting System

disquscomments

So I was using IntenseDebate for the comments for a while, but I decided to switch it over to Disqus. It’s not that IntenseDebate wasn’t good, it’s just that Disqus is better. Now you can post comments anonymously, or log in via Facebook Connect, Twitter, Open ID, or or you can sign up for a free Disqus account.

Just like you could follow other IntenseDebate users, you can o the same thing on Disqus, but now you link back to a wider array of other social networks in your Disqus profile like Flickr. Why not follow me?

Oh, and you can still subscribe to the RSS feed of any post’s comment section so you can see if people are replying to you. There’s also the ability to leave video comments, but I haven’t activated it yet. Maybe in the future if there’s a demand for it.

Another cool little thing with Disqus is the fact that we get our own Disqus community page! Check out albotas.disqus.com. It’s sort of a threaded version of different posts and images from Albotas for Disqus users to comment on. I haven’t figured out all the ins and outs yet, but it seems pretty cool so far.

I know a lot of other bigger blogs like /Film use Disqus, so you’ll be able to post just about anywhere without having to create a new account. Leave a comment and let me know what you guys think. Feel free to ask any questions as well.
