Fact: Kingdom Hearts Mobile Avatar Phone Straps vol. 1 were freaking amazing. Double Fact: Kingdom Hearts Mobile Avatar Phone Straps vol. 2 are also amazing. Maybe even amazing-er. Volume 2 consists of Halloween Town Sora, Leon from FFVIII, Axel from Organization XIII, Vivi the mage, and the almighty Sephiroth. Each strap costs $9.90 and you can currently pre-order them at Play-Asia. Expect them to ship some time in January. [Via Kotowari] Kouji Taguchi, the head of Square Enix’s manga division, was recently asked why manga sales in America pretty much suck when compared to sales in Japan. He replied by saying: “The best sellers in the US were Full Metal Alchemist and Naruto, but these only sold a tenth to a twentieth of what they sold in Japan. I think the main reasons are as follows: 1. Fewer copies are printed and those that are get sold at a much higher price, from $8.99 to $12.99. 2. Children don’t get as much money, their allowances are just smaller. 3. The other reason is location. If you live in Tokyo there will be 3 bookshops nearby, which you can easily cycle to. In the US there aren’t any, they can only buy on a weekly trip to the mall. Even if anime is highly popular, they just don’t visit the stores to buy manga often.” It’s interesting that piracy wasn’t brought up. Think about it, some manga series take up to a year to make their way over to the states. Instead of waiting for U.S. licensing deals and distribution, most hardcore otaku are just reading scanlations on sites like OneManga.com where english translations are uploaded within 24 hours after a chapter is released in Japan. Why wait and pay when you can have it now for free? [Via Sankaku Complex]
So I saw this post on Figure.fm where a dude customized his PSP and he had all these sweet One Piece straps on it which I thought looked pretty fresh. Then I felt the sudden urge to decorate my DSi with a gazillion bulky-but-cute straps, so I headed over to Play-Asia.com to start my quest. I found these sweet Kingdom Hearts straps for only $9.90 each and I’m pretty sure I need the Sora and Cloud straps in order to live a happy life. For real. There’s also Roxas, Riku, and Kairi who are also crazy cute. The more I look at ‘em, the more I’m thinking about just getting the whole set. Probably not the wisest investment, but I’ve spent more on way dumber crap. Although it’s not as awesome as the Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days DSi bundle coming out in Japan later this year, fans with lighter wallets might want to settle for this not-too-shabby Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 DaysHori protective case from for their newly-purchased DSi. It’s not as bulky and obtrusive as most cases and at only $14.90. If you like the case, but aren’t a Kingdom Hearts fan, Hori also makes the case in Clear Blue, Clear Black, Clear Pink, and just plain Clear for only $9.90. If you don’t want to sacrifice your DSi’s sexy matte finish, Hori even offers a Matte White and Matte Black case for $12.90 each. See? The world’s just full of great options! |
