Dad Paints Super Mario Bros. 3 Mural In Son’s Room

This potential father-of-the-year candidate painted a 12-foot long Super Mario Bros. 3 mural on his son’s bedroom wall. Each pixel was painted over a huge grid that the father drew out across the wall. The whole project took about 2 years to complete, but the father admits he slacked for about a year and a half.

You can see lots of work-in-progress shots and a full view of the mural here.

Thanks for the tip, Dean!

Sick Video Game Inspired Skateboard Designs for the I’M BOARD Skateboard Art Show

Logan Zawacki (the same dude who wrote The Excavation of Mushroom Island) sent in pics of these 4 skateboard decks that he designed for the upcoming I’M BOARD skateboard art exhibit in Jacksonville, FL being held this weekend. The games represented are Mega Man, Super Mario Bros., Street Fighter II, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

It looks like he took models from the Tony Hawk games and rendered them with the appropriate attire to fit their themes. Awesome work, indeed.

Check the gallery below to get up close and personal with the freshness of the details.

Mind = Blown: Super Mario Bros. 3 Never Happened

Super Mario Bros. 3 never happened. It was all just a stage show. A play. Mario was never once in any real danger. You were merely the audience.

Whaaaaaaaaaaaaat!? I never once made this connection. My brain nugget’s just been shattered to tiny bits by this bomb of a realization.

At least it wasn’t all a dream like Mario 2. That was some bullshit.

Daily Graffiti: Super Street Art Brothers

No clue who did these awesome Mario and Luigi stencils, but mazain, who took the pic, says:

Found on a wall at a bus stop in St Ives, Sydney, Australia. Luigi is around 2 feet tall, just to give you an idea of their size.

I really wanna’ know who did this and if they’ve done more. If anyone knows, please drop a line in the comments!

Erick Scarecrow’s 18″ Soopa Maria Grayscale Figure Revealed!

Promo-7

Here’s some more revealing pics of Erick Scarecrow’s grayscale colorway of Soopa Maria that I posted a sneak peek of earlier this week.

Erick Scarecrow’s Soopa Maria Sato character — clearly an homage to Super Mario Bros. 3 — is my absolute favorite among his figures by far and it would be a huge understatement to say that this new grayscale colorway makes me just a bit giddy.

This whopping 18″ figure is limited to a mere 10 pieces worldwide and will be available exclusively from the Japanese toy retailer Tomenosuke on Thursday, November 26th at 12am midnight JST.
