This potential father-of-the-year candidate painted a 12-foot long Super Mario Bros. 3 mural on his son’s bedroom wall. Each pixel was painted over a huge grid that the father drew out across the wall. The whole project took about 2 years to complete, but the father admits he slacked for about a year and a half. Here’s some more revealing pics of Erick Scarecrow’s grayscale colorway of Soopa Maria that I posted a sneak peek of earlier this week.
Erick Scarecrow’s Soopa Maria Sato character — clearly an homage to Super Mario Bros. 3 — is my absolute favorite among his figures by far and it would be a huge understatement to say that this new grayscale colorway makes me just a bit giddy.
This whopping 18″ figure is limited to a mere 10 pieces worldwide and will be available exclusively from the Japanese toy retailer Tomenosuke on Thursday, November 26th at 12am midnight JST.

A lot of people might remember Captain Lou Albano from the golden days of WWF wrestling, but I’ll always remember him as the original Super Mario. I can fondly remember rushing home from school (back when I was in kindergarten) to catch the newest episode of The Super Mario Super Show to see the Cap’n work his magic on my tiny adolescent brain. Louis Vincent Albano died Wednesday morning on October 14th of 2009 at the age of 76. Let’s not think of this as GAME OVER. Instead, let’s think this as the Cap’n finally making it to that bonus round in the clouds. Rest in piece, Captain.
