The popular manga/anime sensation gets Rule 34'd.

Why Akira Is So Awesome
I’ve always liked Akira. But a recent viewing of the movie blew my mind.
Hit the link to read what knocked my socks off.
TeeFury: FF7 X Akira
I usually don’t post those 24-hour shirt sites since the quality of the shirts are absolute shit and shrink weirdly after one wash, but TeeFury is pretty on point with their quality and this design is rad. Here’s Cloud from Final Fantasy VII in style of the iconic Akira cover/film poster. Cool stuff, the shirt is only $11 for the next 10 hours. Get it.
The Other Mario Movie
Not to toot my own magic flute, but I know a lot about videogames. But I had no idea a Mario Bros. anime existed.
Super Mario Bros.: Peach-Hime Kyushutsu Dai Sakusen! was released in 1986 and never made it out of its Japanese homeland. Directed by ex-Sanrio employee, Masami Hata, this was the very first film based on a videogame. It was first released in theaters (which is strange considering its 60 minute runtime) and then on VHS, never to receive a DVD version.
Need this in your collection? Unfortunately, all the coins in the Mushroom Kingdom couldn’t get you copy. Apparently the tape is even hard to find in Japan, let alone the West. Its Wikipedia page even claims it to be one of the rarest films of all time.
Someone must have gotten a hold of one though, since you can view its fansub on YouTube.
Character Bios from Erick Scarecrow’s 9DKP Kickstarter
One of the coolest things about 9DKP is the huge amount of interesting characters. This video shows off three of the nine heroes and reveals some really cool pre-production sketches. Check it out and contribute to the Kickstarter campaign here!

Winter Promos for Japan’s Lawson Convenience Stores
Japan chain convenience store, Lawson, is rolling out some Winter promos involving Attack on Titan. Rad stuff you may never see in person, but it’s cool to take a gander at these potato chips and energy drinks involving an awesome anime series.
Yoshiyuki Sadamoto (Evangelion) Draws Akira
Author of the Evangelion manga series, Yoshiyuki Sadamoto, recently provided artwork for Japan’s Anime Busience magazine in celebration for Akira’s 25th anniversary. I couldn’t find any hi-res images anywhere, but it’s pretty neat to see Sadamoto draw Kaneda for the issue’s cover. Sick stuff.
First Look at Miyazaki’s New Manga
The 72-year-old legend, Hayao Miyazaki, has said to retire after his latest film, The Wind Rises, releases. Well, The Wind Rises was released in June of Japan and will release early next year in the United States, but it seems like Miyazaki is enjoying his “retirement,” by working on something new: a manga based off of samurai in the Warring States era of Japan. No word on this manga releasing soon, but it’s a promising bit of info for those wanting more from Miyazaki, post-directing!

"Any last things for any struggling voice actors out there?"
Tumblr site Fuck Yes, Troy Baker made a GIF sequence of our interview with voice actor Troy Baker. He’s done a million different voices for all sorts of anime, video games, and more. Most recently, he voiced Joel in The Last of Us and Joker in Batman: Arkham Origins.
He’s a super rad dude and kind of reminds me of Leon Kennedy from Resident Evil. If you missed the interview when it originally went up last month, check it out below.
Man. I wish I could win the lottery so Albotas could travel and make sweet videos like this all the time.
9 Deadly Killer Pussies Teaser
The Kickstarter anime project from ESC-Toy and Asahi Production is quickly approaching. Today Erick Scarecrow launched a teaser, showing off the design of the 9 Eyes Stone. This stone housed the powers of an evil cat character that nearly destroyed Japan. His powers were sealed away centuries ago, but are unearthed in modern day Japan, wreaking havoc on the country. Someone’s got to stop this jerkface cat, and it’s not going to be the Samurai Pizza Cats.
