[FNM] ‘Scott Pilgrim’ Meets ‘Magic: The Gathering’ In This Epic Fan-made Short Film
If Edgar Wright and Bryan Lee O’Malley teamed up to make a movie about Magic, it’d probably go something like this. This film was created by Spencer Alexander for the 2011 Fox Film Festival where it took home the award for Best Editing and was a runner-up for the Audience Choice Award.

Stuck with a peppy female sidekick and up against seemingly insurmountable odds, young Lucas Penner enters himself into a clandestine underground card-playing tournament, unaware of the challenging opponents that stand between him and ultimate glory.

Concept drawing for Gideon’s lair in Scott Pilgrim Vol. 6 by Bryan Lee O’Malley who tweets “The skate ramp didn’t make it in the book.” That’s a shame because that’s a pretty sweet ramp.

Check out this cover art for the Japanese edition of Scott Pilgrim that collects vols. 5 and 6. In case you don’t get the reference, it’s an homage to the cover of Street Fighter Alpha 2.
Byan Lee O’Malley has done some other cool illustrations for overseas editions of the Scotty P. books which you can check out on Radiomaru.com.

SCOTT PILGRIM Band Sketches by Bryan Lee O’Malley.

The books are finished. The movie’s no longer in theaters. We’re done with the game. But that doesn’t mean the end of Scott Pilgrim news! Check out these character sheet sketches for the movie drawn by SCOTT PILGRIM creator Bryan Lee O’Malley himself! These pics were in the movie for a quick second, but chances are you didn’t even notice them.

It’s highly recommended that you check the slideshow in full screen mode for maximum raditude so you can see all of O’Malley’s clever little notes.

Fun fact: Tasha (aka Trasha) didn’t have her sheet used in the movie. Instead, director Edgar Wright had O’Malley change her name to “mystery drummer.
