While I did snag a lot of shots of adult and teenage cosplayers this weekend at MegaCon, let’s not forget about the little ones. These parents are super awesome and their kids are even cooler for enjoying it.

Artist BazNet has created these cool Donkey Kong re-imaginings by taking different characters of pop culture and splashing them into the original DK arcade game. Up top we’ve got Star Wars, Alien, Batman, Doctor Who, Adventure Time, and a couple of other recreations, taking the places of Mario (or Jumpman, really) and Donkey Kong, and changing the color schemes to match Hoth, the Land of Ooo, and wherever else. Matt JOnes (AKA Lunartik) has been hard at work for two years on a series of 2.5” Doctor Who vinyl toys. According to Matt, Series 1 includes Matt Smith as the 11th Doctor, The Tardis, Cybermen, Ood, Jadoon, Silurian, Silent and Drone, Scientist, Eternal, Strategist and Supreme Daleks, and four chase figures.

It lights up, it’s got sounds, it’s got some foot pedal action, and it’s $90. It’s pretty tiny (Approx. 16.5” tall, possibly bigger on the inside), honestly but it still looks like an awesome and worthless thing to own. Check it over at ThinkGeek if you’re into spending that much cash on trashcans.
I guess there was concept for a TARDIS engagement ring made before by Pathetic Peripatetic, but now it’s an actual real thing. Complete with ruby and sapphire, you can email Mr. Gino Arizmendi about his beautifully geeky engagement ring.
I’ve avoided watching this so as not to spoil anything for myself. I still need to catch up on Season 6. If the picture above is any indication, I’m guessing shit gets pretty real.

David Yates (he directed a bunch of movies about kid wizards and I hear they’re quite popular) is working on a movie version of Doctor Who.
From Variety:
Yates made clear that his movie adaptation would not follow on from the current TV series, but would take a completely fresh approach to the material.
“Russell T. Davies and then Steven Moffat have done their own transformations, which were fantastic, but we have to put that aside and start from scratch,” he said.
Yates and Tranter are looking for writers on both sides of the Atlantic.
“We want a British sensibility, but having said that, Steve Kloves wrote the Potter films and captured that British sensibility perfectly, so we are looking at American writers too,” he explained.
Kind of a bummer since I’ve always wanted to see Matt Smith as the 11th Doctor up on the big screen. And a sexy Amy Pond shower scene - preferably one consisting of multiple Amy Ponds.
Can you believe the 50th anniversary of Doctor Who is just a couple years away? That’s quite a milestone for any TV show to reach. There will probably be a new Doctor by that time but until then, Katie Hilllman (a.k.a. Buuya) created this print of all 11 Doctors. It will be available for sale at Hal-Con.
I’m not sure if Ron Grainer had any lyrics in mind when composing the Doctor Who theme back in 1963, but I’d like to think the phrase “wibbly wobbly timey wimey” ran through his head more than just a few times.

Amazing. This little kid recited Doctor Who’s epic “Pandorica” monologue for his kindergarten talent show. I hope he won or else there’s no justice left in this sad world.
