Maggie Simpson in “The Longest Daycare”

Fox posted their Academy Award-nominated animated short, The Longest Daycare, starring Maggie Simpson, up on their YouTube channel today. For those unfamiliar with the short, this played directly before screenings of Ice Age: Continental Drift last year, which hopefully is the reason why many of you have not yet seen it. And if you haven’t seen it yet, I highly recommend pressing play on the video right now and watching one of the most touching animated shorts I’ve seen (outside of Pixar's work) in a long time.

The Simpsons Will Probably Be Dead Tomorrow
According to various sources, the cast of The Simpsons would have to take a 25% to 30% pay cut for the series to be signed on for more seasons. If they do not sign this deal by tomorrow, the show will be all over as of the last episode of the current season.
The cast make about a quarter of a million dollars per episode, so on one hand, that pay cut isn’t so bad. On the other hand, Fox probably still nets a profit from each episode, not to mention all the merchandise. *Looks down at Homer boxers* Yeah that’s right. I write Albotas posts in my underwear.

When Dinosaurs Ruled the Earth
I used to watch the 1991 Land of the Lost series on Saturday mornings. I’ve been waiting twenty years for another humans-in-a-dinosaur world television series, so you better believe I lost my shit when I heard about Terra Nova coming out this fall. You can see the rest of the posters HERE.

First Teaser for Fringe Season 4 Asks “Where is Peter Bishop?”

Season 3 of Fringe ended with all kinds of craziness and left a huge, empty void in our weekly TV viewing schedules. The sci-fi awesomefest doesn’t return until September 23 on Fox, so it’s probably safe to expect a few more teasers like this one leading up to the premiere.

Some keen YouTube commenters pointed out a few subtle things in this 10-second clip. At around the 0:07 mark, the hashtag #whereispeterbishop appears backwards above an upside down number four. And astute commenter vaffancolor86 hits us in the brains with some knowledge, saying “Uuhhh….and they use a scene from “the arrival”, the ep about the observer, the cylinder, the number of the ep was 1.04…..and the first episode of the next season will be 4.01!! What a coincidence! :P”

Those of us who’ve been watching Fringe long enough can probably agree that there are never any coincidences when it comes to this show. Ever.

So, a Napoleon Dynamite animated series is debuting on FOX next year. When the original movie dropped back in 2004 it was one of those cultural phenomenons that collapsed in on itself. After a good two or three months, everyone was pretty much nauseated from hearing other people quote the same phrases from the film that they themselves had just been quoting a few weeks prior.

The animated show is being produced by Mike Scully (The Simpsons, Everybody Loves Raymond) and the movie’s original cast will be doing all the voice work.

I just hope to God that people don’t start wearing “Vote For Pedro” shirts again.
