Here’s the Japanese trailer for Mario Kart 8 Mercedes-Benz DLC releasing for free on August 27. No word if this is coming to the West right now, but the event in Japan will kick off a four week-long online competition called the Mercedes Cup after this free DLC is released.

DAILY GRAFFITI: ‘SUPER MARIO BROS. 3’ EDITION
Cool SMB3 street art mural spotted by always_exploring.
I feel like I’m the only one who thought the cape from Super Mario World was way cooler than the Tanooki suit. I mean, sure, the Tanooki is clearly more stylish, but the cape was just functionally more awesome. That thing could keep you up in the air for freaking EVER! Basically, I’d much rather have Nintendo make every Mario game more like Super Mario World than the weird hybrid of SMB and SMB3 they’ve been doing for the past few years.
Here’s a cool little t-shirt design by artist Robert Retiano featuring classic characters that have survived the 8-bit era of gaming as Marvel’s Avengers. There’s Donkey Kong as the Incredible Hulk, Link as Captain America, Mega Man as Iron Man, and Mario as Thor.
What oldschool video game characters would be Black Widow and Hawkeye?
Get Your Hygiene: Old School Nintendo Cartridge Soap
Firebox has these awesome Super Nintendo and GameBoy soaps, created from vegan-friendly ingredients and consisting of coconut oil, palm oil, and safflower oil. Each soap is shrink wrapped and comes in a cool plastic replica case.
GameBoy options for soap cartridges are Earthworm Jim, Pokemon Red/Blue, Kirby’s Dreamland, Tetris, Super Mario Land, and The Legend of Zelda, while those wanting a Super Nintendo cartridge can purchase The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, Donkey Kong Country, Super Mario Kart, or Street Fighter II Turbo.
Corrupted Super Mario 64 Is Super Trippy
Here’s some footage from a really tripped out/corrupted Super Mario 64 cartridge. It’s fun to watch and overall insane, and I’d love to actually play a version that runs this damaged. Peep the video below:
80’s Throwback Crew Neck from King of Games
The King of Games have released their latest sweatshirt based on classic Nintendo games. Surprisingly, this one’s a crew neck. I usually don’t like crew necks but since the graphic is so 80’s it totally works. It’s just over $100 and comes in three colorways.

The Other Mario Movie
Not to toot my own magic flute, but I know a lot about videogames. But I had no idea a Mario Bros. anime existed.
Super Mario Bros.: Peach-Hime Kyushutsu Dai Sakusen! was released in 1986 and never made it out of its Japanese homeland. Directed by ex-Sanrio employee, Masami Hata, this was the very first film based on a videogame. It was first released in theaters (which is strange considering its 60 minute runtime) and then on VHS, never to receive a DVD version.
Need this in your collection? Unfortunately, all the coins in the Mushroom Kingdom couldn’t get you copy. Apparently the tape is even hard to find in Japan, let alone the West. Its Wikipedia page even claims it to be one of the rarest films of all time.
Someone must have gotten a hold of one though, since you can view its fansub on YouTube.
Fire Emblem: Awakening, $15 At Best Buy
Wow, this is a killer deal. Fire Emblem: Awakening is only $15 at Best Buy right now if you purchase it online. I don’t think I’ve seen this title at a lower price. The only thing is, you can’t ship the item to your house so it’s only available for in-store pick-up, which totally is 100% worth it at that price.
Amazing Bootleg Mario Sofubi
I’ve never really understood it when people specifically collect bootlegs, but to each their own. This Mario sofubi toy certainly warrants a purchase based solely on its ridiculousness. It’s as if Mario were Russian instead of Italian. If you absolutely need this, you can find the eBay listing here.
Mario Does René Magritte
Here are a series of pixel art creations, depicting Mario mimicking portraits and paintings created by Belgian surrealist artist, René Magritte. The art was created by Deviant Artist, Breshvic Penicillin, who also recently opened up a Society6 account to purchase each Mario/Magritte print. Peep his Tumblr for more.
Attack on Titan Opening Reskinned With Super Mario Bros. 3
Here’s a pretty incredible fan-made opening for Attack on Titan, starring the cast of Super Mario Bros. 3. Tanooki suits and all, this is a pretty wicked rendition of the intro.
