Shawn Smith, founder of Shawnimals, was awesome enough to do an interview with Albotas after a grueling signing session at NYCC 2012. Hit the link to read about the origins of NinjaTown, the art of plush, and Shawn’s days of writing for EGM.

Final Ninja of the Month: Ragdoll Ninja
Shawnimals is moving onto new projects in their Legends of Ninjatown series, so December 2012’s Ninja of the Month will be the final one produced by the company. And since this 7x7 inch plushy is closing the book on a three year long legacy, they’ve done something special with the Ragdoll Ninja. The terrycloth-like fabric, button eyes, and thick stitching make Ragdoll Ninja unique. And unlike other Ninjas, this one can sit upright, making it perfect for a shelf or table. He comes with the customary hangtag, card, and button, as well as a special scroll.

Xmas Dumpling from Shawnimals
Shawnimals are working on a Christmas edition of their Pocket Pork Dumpling toy. I wish there was a special edition that was made of real ginger bread and frosting, oh, and filled with eggnog on the inside.

Ninja of the Month: Polar Ninja
Shawnimals’ Ninja of the Month series may be winding down, but that doesn’t mean the quality of the designs or craftsmanship will suffer. Check out Polar Ninja as proof. He’s bundled up to face the snow. And he’ll rescue you from your skiing try gone awry with his rope accessory. Polar Ninja looks like he’d fit snugly inside a Tauntaun corpse. Or in your adoring arms. Whichever, really.

Shawnimals Announces Legends of Ninjatown
Shawnimals may be ending the Ninja of the Month series, but Legends of Ninjatown is here to take its place. We’re not quite sure what it is yet, but the above image is speculation-inspring. Any guesses?

Yes, even more Halloween-themed toys! These ones are NYCC exclusives from Shawnimals. There are two plush pork dumplings - one a zombie and one his unfortunate victim. There are also two vinyl Pork O’Lanterns. I’ll definitely be picking up the vinyls. Get ‘em at the Myplasticheart booth at NYCC.

Ninja of the Month: Magma Ninja
This incendiary ninja is erupting with awesome. So goes his story: ”This former Baker Ninja is now equal parts magma and Dark Syrup, thanks to a tiny drip of Dark Syrup in a cookie recipe as part of a seemingly harmless prank! Goes to show you simply can’t trust ANYTHING from the Dark Forest…”
I love the eyes on this one and the magma pattern reminds me of lava levels from early 3D games. The normal $30 price tag includes a sticker, button, and signed and numbered tag. Grab one straight from Shawnimals.
Check out previous Ninjas of the Month here.

One of a Kind Shawnimals Stuff @ MyPlasticHeart

I snagged a blue mini canvas painted by Shawnimal while I was in NYC a few weeks ago. Now fans can buy one-off canvases, paintings, drawings, and custom vinyls from MyPlasticHeart’s web store. A lot of the stuff is in the $20-$30 range - a steal for customs from the Shawnimal himself.

Ninja of the Month: Pink Ninja
She looks sweet but she’s really here to throw down. Pink Ninja is armed to the teeth with candy. Hard candy. The plushy comes with the normal extras: a signed and numbered tag, a character card, and a pin.

DIY Pocket Pork Dumpling
If you’ve always wanted a leopard print Pocket Pork Dumpling, today is your day. Shawnimals now offers blank versions of their recently released vinyl toy. There are two kinds - one with eyes and one without. I picked one up at MyPlasticHeart over the weekend (along with a mini canvas from Shawnimal himself) and they’re pretty darn nice. Time to paint it like a Dragon Quest slime.
