Android Mini Collectible: Rainbow Set
The observable spectrum will soon be available in Android form. Dead Zebra will release this double decker of translucent Android Minis within the next few weeks online and in stores. Some of these were previously available in Series 2, Big Box Series, and MWC special editions, but several are brand new colors. They come in a sleek magnetic display box. You can even pop off their heads and mix them up for all your color theory blaspheming needs.

Vinyl Tengoku: Android Mini Collectibles Lucky Cat Series

Andrew Bell and Shane Jessup have teamed up to create this window-boxed series of Android toys. There are ten different Lucky Cats and five different accessories - a bell, a notebook, an envelope, a collar coin, and a koban. The kitty’s paws even rock back and forth when you poke them. They’re shipping later this month for about $10 each, and you can pre-order them at myplasticheart or wait to get them straight from Deadzebra.

Albotip: The koban most lucky cats hold indicates a value of ten million ryō. That’s a lot of money.

Android Big Box Series Available at myplasticheart
Finding Big Box Android figures has been nearly impossible, at least for me. They’re supposed to be available at Barnes & Noble and Urban Outfitters, but they’re never in the store or online. I finally found some at NYCC but haven’t seen any more. Until today.
myplasticheart has all seven versions of Big Box Series 1 available, each at $10. Finally, a robo-yeti can be all yours.

Android S3 Reveal Part 2

Check out four more designs from the third series of Andrew Bell’s Android Mini Collectibles. I love see-through plastic, so the Nexus figure is making me even more excited for my box of S3s to hit my doorstep. The Barista Bot is a self-portrait of Andrew from when he worked in his sister’s café and was a robot. (I frickin’ knew it!) KaNO designed the Intergalactic figure, which of course pays tribute to one famous dancing robot from the ’90s. Finally, MAD designed the CRY-ON, which has some sexy silver accents.

Android S3 Reveal Part 1

The boat containing the shipment of Android Mini Collectibles Series 3 has hit the shores of California. But those boxes full of plastic robots still have to make their way to Dyzlastic’s distribution center, then stores, then your house.

In the meantime, snack on these photos of some new Android designs. We’ll post more as they come.

Android S3 Confirmed for End of Q3

Andrew Bell has just announced that the third series of Android Mini Collectibles will be shipping by the end of September. Originally slated for Q2, the delay is mostly due to a redesigned arm that lets you pose robo-appendage any which way. Very cool.

And if you happen to be in Brooklyn, drop by The Cotton Candy Machine to check out some of Andrew’s other work during the Other Mother Brothers art show.

Ever wonder how the Android Mini Collectibles project got its start? Check out our interview featuring Andrew and yours truly.

Unreleased Androids on eBay
Pre-orders for Android Mini Series 3 have been open for a while but we haven’t heard many official details. Could these unreleased Androids be part of Series 3? Probably not. They come in a windowed box like the Big Box series rather than a blindbox. That said, they’re still pretty cool, especially the doctor. The eBay auctions are ending in less than a half hour as of this posting, so check them out (here) - these might not surface again for a while.

A Look at Two New Androids

That blue Android up there is called Schemer. It was given away at SXSW to several lucky bastards. Two more randomly chosen bastards who subscribe to the Dead Zebra newsletter will win a Schemer tonight. I can just see it twisting its mustache in my general direction, as if to say, “You’ll never have me.”

The one on the bottom is KaNo’s contribution to the third series of the Android Mini Collectibles. It’s based off the giant robot from the Beastie Boys’ Intergalactic video. I hear this one will be of a 1/16 rarity.

A Little Bit on the Android Big Box Side: Check out these Android “Big Box” toys. They aren’t produced or designed by Dyzplastic, but some of them are really cool. They all come in a windowed box so you know which one you’re getting. Personally, I’ll be picking up the Ruby, Yeti, and Pinkey ones. You can find them soon at Urban Outfitters, Barnes & Noble, and elsewhere.

A Little Bit on the Pre-Order Side: If you’re nervous after hearing there will be only one run of the third Android series, you might want to get your pre-order in. ToyQube are accepting pre-orders starting today. They’re charging $128 for the full set.

A Little Bit on the Android Series 03 Side: According to Vinyl Pulse, the third series of Android Mini Collectibles will be released sometime in Q2 2012. The set will feature the artists listed in the above graphic and will be a one-production-run series. That means buy ‘em fast.

A Little Bit on the Chinese New Year Android Side: Last year, Dead Zebra released the God of Wealth figure to celebrate the Chinese New Year. For the Year of the Dragon, we’re getting not one, not two, but three, yes three, little plastic gods. The three figure set consists of Fortune, Blessing, and Longevity. They’re be available this Wednesday at 11AM and 11PM for $29.

A Little Bit on the Jingly Side: Check out this Happy Holidays video from the Android team. The halls are decked with Android Mini Collectibles. And speaking of, have a righteous holiday of your choosing (if you do indeed choose one at all) from Albotas.

A Little Bit on the Android Soldier Side: Hot on the heels of the awesome Don Pablo Calaveroid is this Toy Soldier Android Mini Collectible, designed by Gary Ham and produced by Dyzplastic. It will be available Wednesday the 14th at 11AM Eastern, then again at 11PM Eastern at the Dead Zebra shop. The coolest part? Each one has a key to plug into the figure’s back. Very neat.
