Today Is International Cephalopod Awareness Day

Let’s celebrate with a classic video of the most awesome cephalopod of them all (aside from our beloved Albotapus mascot), the Mimicking Octopus.

Weta Workshop Built Valve A Full-Scale, Motion-Detecting ‘Portal’ Turret. There Were No Survivors.
Just kidding, no one died. Yet.
Weta Workshop, the New Zealand based prop house most known for their work on the Lord of the Rings movies, gifted Valve this life-size, animatronic, talking, targeting turret from the Portal games.
Lookit.

And here’s a video of the Sentry Turret in motion-detecting action.

I don’t think I’m alone in needing a small army of these for my front yard.

Video: Two Dudes, One Skateboard
Watch Kilian Martin and Alfredo Urbon tear it up together on a custom board built for two. Okay, so it’s really an Smart Car ad, but it’s still awesome, so watch!

And while you’re at it, check out the making-of spot.

Mega Man Hoodie With Hidden Built-In Mega Buster

Capcom teamed up with fashion label Punk Drunkers to make some limited edition Rockman apparel including the ballin’-ass hoodie pictured above. The sleeve turns into a Mega Buster, fools!!! And that black one is all kinds of hot. 14,700 yen ($189 US) is pretty steep though.

The t-shirts will set you back 5,250 yen ($67 US).

Kind of glad I don’t have that kind of money to throw around right now because I’d probably wear the hoodie everywhere and “pew-pew” complete strangers in public. Who wouldn’t though, am I right?

Kickstart This Shizz: Mike Tyson’s Punch-Out!! Encyclopedia

Mike Tyson’s Punch-Out!! was the second NES game I ever owned (Super Mario Bros./Duck Hunt being the first, obviously) and it gave 6-year-old me the hardest freaking time ever. Seriously, I could never get past Bald Bull for some reason.

If the Punch-Out!! series holds a special place in your heart as it does mine, you  might want to check out the unofficial Mike Tyson’s Punch-Out!! Encyclopedia. It contains a history of the game including old magazine ads, hacked ROMs, and fan art.

There’s still 25 days left to fund the project and so far they’ve made $13,753 of their $25,000 goal. If they meet the goal, they’ll make a limited run of 200 books. Donate $10 for a digital copy, and $125 or more for a hardcover that will rock your coffee table’s socks off.
