Gunbuster Chogokin Figure
Revoltech released a Gunbuster figure last year. And it was about time. After nearly 25 years since the anime premiered, there still weren’t many quality figures based on the series’ giant robot. Now Bandai are adding Gunbuster to their Super Robot Chogokin line. The 6” figure will be released in March for $74.

‘Project X Zone’ Opening Cinematic [VIDEO]
Although I’m not really into SRPGs, I can’t help but be a little bit stoked for Project X Zone. The 3DS game takes characters from Capcom, Namco, and Sega, and mixes ‘em all up in a bag of strategic role-playing goodness. This means characters from popular franchises like Street Fighter, Mega Man, Tekken, Space Channel 5, Phantasy Star, Xenosaga, God Eater, .Hack, Shining Force, Virtua Fighter, and more will all be together in the same game! Kinda’ bummed about the lack of Phoenix Wright, though.
No western release has been announced yet, but look at the collector’s edition Japan is getting. Lucky jerks.

Check out the opening cinematic below and let us know which characters you spotted and which ones you wish would’ve made the cut.

JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure All Star Battle Is Bizarre

Before I watched this trailer for the Namco Bandai game, I figured I’d be writing up a post called “The Game You Should Play Instead of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure All Star Battle” and then show you Capcom’s 2D fighter based on the series. But then I watched the trailer and the game actually looks awesome. I can’t quite tell if it’s a psuedo-3D fighter or if there’s just a sidestep command like in Rival Schools / Project Justice. The weird part is that the graphics style looks like Street Fighter IV’s. Are some of Capcom’s artists now working for Namco Bandai? Or are Namco Bandai just ripping off Capcom?

Also: Helvetica bold.

Ni no Kuni Limited Edition up for Pre-order

The game’s Western release is almost a year away, but I’ve already thrown down my $99.99 for this amazing limited edition of the game. Yup - $99.99. That’s a lot of money, even for a limited edition, but this time I think it’s worth it. The “wizard edition” of the RPG co-created by Studio Ghibli and Level-5 will include a hardcover version of the spell book used by the protagonist, as well as a plush version of his pal, Drippy.

If I remember correctly, the DS version of the game required players to use a similar physical spell book to progress through the game. It doesn’t seem like this has been worked into the PS3 version, but it’s still a very cool bonus. The real treat is Drippy, and there will also be two DLC characters included in the bundle.

Side Note: The pre-order page mentions that the Western release of the game will contain both English and Japanese voice over tracks - good news for people who prefer hearing bad voice acting that they can’t understand rather than bad voice acting that they can understand.

Get it exclusively through Namco Bandai.

A Little Bit on the Char CD Player Side: If you need to go all out after buying that Char helmet, check out this CD player, designed after his Zaku mobile suit. It’s originally from a mail-in-your-points-type program from Bandai, but one is on eBay right now. I was going to bid, but now it’s up to $35 plus $15 shipping. But it is a great collector’s item.

A Little Bit on the Saint Seiya X Devilrobots Side: Check out this Saint Seiya zipper pull / cellphone charm thingamabob. Devilrobots redesigned several of the series’ characters into these cute but awesome super-deformed styles.

A Little Bit On the Akira Side: So, the live-action Akira remake has been put on temporary hold, but that shouldn’t stop you from living our your own live-action Akira fantasies! To celebrate Akria’s 30th anniversary, Bandai is selling a fer-realz version of Kaneda’s sweet red leather jacket for a paltry 69,800 yen (685 euros/900 U.S. dollars). Seems like they’re sold out at the moment, but they still have some of the not-as-awesome graphicless black ones left

I kind of want one just so I can run around screaming “TETSUOOOOO!!!!” to the top of my lungs in crowded public places.

Soul Calibur 5 - Official Announcement

Hot off the heels of the “Soul Cal Boob Chart” comes the official Soul Calibur 5 announcement! Officially announced in Dubai late last night (around 11:00 PST) the game will see a 2012 release on Playstation 3 and Xbox 360. We’ve went ahead and boiled down some of the early information into some easily digestible facts:

- SC5 will take place 17 years after SC4.
- Patroklos will be the story’s protagonist - he is the son of Sophitia and Rothion.
- Will NOT be called Soul Edge 2 as rumored!
- Character customization will remain intact (but no fetish or skimpy outfits!)
- Will remain a 1-on-1 fighting game.
- Siegfried/Nightmare will be in this game.
- You can check out a bootleg trailer here!
