This Exists: Godzilla vs. Charles Barkley comic book

I was doing some browsing on the Internet to research into some good Godzilla comic book starting points (there aren’t many good Godzilla titles, honestly), since I’ve been reading the incredible James Stokoe’s Godzilla: Half-Century War, and I came across one of the most absurd comic books ever published. Godzilla vs. Charles Barkley.

I guess back in the early 90’s, there were Nike television commercials where Charles Barkley really went one on one against the big radiated lizard himself on the streets of Tokyo. So Dark Horse Comics decided to make an adaptation of the commercial.

The comic is about a little kid who gives Barkley a silver coin that makes him grow Godzilla-sized so they can go one and on and Godzilla can go HAM on Charles’ motherfucking assssss. But Barkley wins (I think), and we’re only blessed with Godzilla wearing his own special shoes, Barkley being way taller than he usually is, and a couple of hilarious splash pages. Check some caps above.

I should be ordering my copy of the physical comic book soon to add to my novelty collection. Mint condition runs around a little less than $20, and I can’t NOT have this.

Buy it: Godzilla: Half-Century War (seriously, it's so fucking good)

Kobe Bryant is “The Black Mamba” directed by Robert Rodriguez.

People have been waiting for Robert Rodiguez and Kobe Bryant’s Black Mamba for months, and now it’s finally here. There’s cameos by Danny Trejo, Bruce Willis, and Kanye West as the sneaker-stealing bad guy, The Boss.

This is a campaign for Nike, so expect plenty of gratuitous sneaker shots, but as Rodriguez points out, “Product placement gives us a bigger budget. Bigger budget, bigger explosions.”

Thanks to T4z for the tip!
